The 10% increase in power figure (whether measured at the engine or at the wheels is irrelevant - if you increase one by 10% then the other goes up by a similar number) is so big that it's worthy of further investigation - got any dyno figures, or 1/4 mile figures before and after sump mod?

The thought that the car can get 10% more power cos a cloud of oil whisping around the crankshaft is gone seems a tad hopeful?

Edit: I'm not trying to be negative, but I'm interested because it's a big performance increase for such a modest sum of $

with a baffle windage kit on a Chevy BB we saw an average of over 27HP NA. We coupled that with a vac pump and saw nearly 60HP increase. The screens do work but as I stated it also varies on the owners build. Its an average..not saying every single person will see this peak gain but on average which most will...they will see an increase. Windage is one of the leading HP robbers in an engine. You aren't modifying the sump either. Please don't construed that any further. All you are doing is channeling the oil system to remove the oil vapor in the crank case of the block.

when you go to put the item up on the oil pan rail....due to core shift in each block you may have to file down some small areas to ensure you get the proper clearance between the scraper and the crankshaft counter weights. Once you have that you can begin to bolt down the item. Always test fit any part before you go to do a final assembly or install. No matter what part you ever buy you always have to do something to it.

I had a look at this at a customer?s request and to check it out. I read through most of these posts and apologise if covered things covered already. I notice you claim 10-12% increase in power, which is a lot, at the flywheel, yet not be 10-12% more at the wheels? It should be the same percentage wise. A much more expensive and involved yet ultimate set up, being a dry sump. They also creates vacuum in the sump, so better seal, of the rings, and less drag and more power as no oil sloshing near the crank and on a motor with poor sump design at best 10%, but most much less.
Also the pics don't seem to correspond to the nice pics, does yours have the horizontal scraper plate or just the vertical one near the side of the sump wall?
    Price is cerainly cheap.

correct flywheel HP...as you typically have a 17% drivetrain loss when you go and dyno and put down wheel HP. Brake and wheel hp are two completely different things.

What pics do you speak of that don't correstpond to "nice pics"? The images shown are of the complete kit. Both scraper on the upstroke side and the windage screens for the downstroke side.

What other images were you needing?

    600hp - 17% = 495rwhp

    600hp x 10% = 660hp

    660hp -17% = 548rwhp

    600hp to 660hp is 10% at flywheel
    495rwhp to 548rwhp is also about 10%

10% increase at flywheel is 10% increase at wheels

    correct me if I'm wrong?

If I dyno an engine on the engine dyno and it puts down 1000HP...17% of that is lost through teh drivetrain which will equate whp. If all you look at is percentage then yes that is true but overall the numbers vary based on output.

I will say this. With an optimum engine running at peak performance I'd say you'd see a 10% performance gain. I certainly will not claim that any engine you install this on will see an immediate 10% increase in power. There's a lot more at play that should be realized before thinking that this system is an immediate 10% increase. My statements about this product and its benefits on power are overall relative to the condition of each engine and its condition. Overall though, I am very confident that anyone who runs this system will see improvements. Its a win/win situation for the consumer to install this system as the oiling system and windage hindrance is a major flaw in this engines design.

even a 5% gain would be great

just checking on getting these fitted.

my engine is coming out for a turbo upgrade and looking to get this .

can this be installed on a running engine by just dropping the sump as I noticed you state for when rebuilding engine.

probably looking at the street kit at this stage

You gave an example of power increase on a BBC, very very different engine to a VG. Even 10% with a vac pump and windage tray is optimistic on the BBC. What total hp did the BBC make.

10% increase is still 10% no matter which end of the car you measure it. What improvements can reasonably be expected from this tray as far as power, life, reliability are concerned? As far as I can tell, the vg has a very well designed oilpan to start with, so windage would be minimal anyway. Do you have any info or pictures to say windage is an issue in these engines?

The stock pan only has directional veins to channel oil back to the sump. It offers no ability like my kit to tackle windage. Not to mention the scraper portion does a better job than the cutting edge on the pan. Being that this kit hugs the girdle and crankshaft, you get a positive affect on this system working. The stock oil pan just doesn't cut it to aid in fighting off windage.

Chad...try to email me..i think I fixed the PM issue but email works best for me. tech@epracing.net

I have sent payment and postage as advised by Mitch.

    Postage is $23 guys.

Matt, I assume the cost above is in USD ?? Thats what I sent anyway. If its AUD can you send me back some cash?

    Thanks

BTW I agree the execution of the sump on this engine is sub standard as regards windage and lack of an oil scraper.

    just to clarify.

Matt owns Matt Z Garage in California. I (Mitchell) own EP Racing in Texas. I just want everyone to ensure they realize that we aren't housed under the same roof. Matt and I just work together on parts development and builds. Thats where the WIN FACTORY parts line comes into to play as both of our parts are debuted on that site to show off our product line.
