Anyone else interested in getting an adaptor plate to mate a VH45 V8 engine to the Z32 5 speed gearbox?

It will most likely be a 1" thick chunk of ally machined to suit the motor and 'box. It will also come with a flywheel spacer to suit. This design is not firm, I have seen other people machine pieces off the bell housing and make a half circle adaptor. Also seen people weld the VH bell housing onto the Z32 gearbox and modify it to accept a clutch slave, pivot etc. All these designs have there pro's and cons and nothing is set in concrete yet.

This won't be going ahead for at least 4 months. If there is no interest I will just make a one off for me in the shop and not worry about getting them CNC'd up.

Don't expect much change from $1k.

tempting, though I'll have to break my recently rebuilt motor first!

it'd be nice to use a flywheel spacer just to be able to switch out the gearbox without hassles but are there cons? extra noise, vibration or anything?

That's what I am a little worried about. When you dump the clutch you are going to create a largish bendin moment between the flywheel and the last main bearing. Apparantly the VH runs a 4mm spacer stock, but this one will be closer to 25mm unless I can extend the input shaft and TO bearing on the Z gearbox easily (not likely)

I don't think that there will be an issue of extra vibration or noise, just a shortened life of the rear most main. Even this wear would be minimal as the bottom end on these motors is riduclous, it's practically a de-tuned indy car motor.

chrispy....will this plate work for an auto????? and can you tt the vh???

Possibly... The VH comes with a auto standard. You would be better off making that fit.

I have seen a couple of TT'd VH45's. Power of over 600rwhp is not uncommon  Standard bottom end too...

is the vh gear box 5 speed or 4???? would the SAW KIT work on it???? or only the vg

No idea, but I would guess 4 speed being a car from the early 90's.

As for the SAW kit, I very much doubt it. You would be better getting the shift body manualised (is that a word :p) and just change gears with the lever.

I supose that you could call it a tap-tap gearbox  You don't need a clutch once you are rolling.

A 6 speed sequential gearset for a GTR is about $12k  That is just the gearset, you have to reuse your old gearbox casing and a couple of bits inside...

    No.

But you could make the holinger GTR gearset fit without too many issues. I believe that OS Giken make a 6 speed too, but that is a traditional manual box.

You did see the bit where it costs $12k didn't you? You where concerend that a 350rwkw Z engine was going to cost $19k...
