GOT IT !!!! . Ended up being the alternator connection. So who feels

like a dummy then:wacko: It happened because I re-arranged the loom at the TX and pulled it short. It really looked at home there. Anyway when I get back from work next week I can re-fit the D/S exhaust, all the intake pipes D/S and everything else I pulled off and out of the way to get the bloody thing, and maybe by then the damage to the back of both of my hands may have healed:LOL:

Great to hear. I'll let Cliff tell you about the pain if the plug doesn't

go in properly.

See what happens when you get too cute with the wiring. ;)

I wouldn't say I got to cute with the wiring, remember I had the engine

out. the wiring looms are pretty complex. I've got a problem now that will take a bit of investigation when I get back. Tried to power it up. Removed fuel pump relay and hooked up the battery ( freshly charged)and all that operates is the headlights, on high beam in both positions. No interior light, no dash lights, no starter, can't unlock the TX from park.I'm going to have to trace each loom to find what I havn't connected. I've either not connected an earth or power supply somewhere. I may start my own " it's not easy owning a Zed" thread:LOL: Anyway given up for a week and start fresh when I come home:thumbsup: Looks great though

Thanks Baz. Suffering from " Post build depression" already.

Really wanted to run it before I went back to work 2morrow. Lost 9 days of my time waitng for the engine, but it shouldn't take long to sort it out on my next week off. I really need the time to let the back of my hands heal and study the Electrical circuit diagrams. Thats one of the advantages of being a Maintenance Supervisor, If I'm studying Circuit Diagrams they think I'm working:LOL::LOL::LOL::cool:

Buttoned it all up,just a few problems, tore the skin of the back of my

left hand, replenished all the fluids, pulled the fuel pump fuse, wound it over until oil pressure registered, plugged in the pump and datascan,aaaannnnnndddddd........ it started, settled into a nice 850 rpm idle, good oil pressure, no error codes. Power Steer pump protested for a while but settled down OK,lifters were noisy for a while and the engine is generally noisier than I remember it. (forged pistons?). As it came up to temp a small pool of oil started to appear under it, shut it down rolled it back into the garage, put it back on the ramps and will have to pull plenum 2morrow to fix the leak. Bummer, but in all a good day:thumbsup::zlove:

Suspect the cam cover (exhaust). Shouldn't be a drama. My

plenum is a particularly easy one to remove:cool: (by design)

Good to hear it started well :) Something I definately won't be expecting

when I go to turn my key for the first time

Did you use liquid sealer on the cam covers as well as the rubber OEM seal?

The OEM gaskets are on the intake covers only. The exhausts

use only sealant. When I pulled mine apart there was sealant EVERYWHERE. Shitloads of it. I was very conservative and just put a bead in the channel machined in the cover. Obviously that wasn't enough, providing that's where the leak is coming from. That what it looks like, but I'll find out 2morrow. Yes, I was pleasantly surprised at how well and easily it ran, considering I'd replaced all connectors, removed completely EGR,AIV's etc. I will do a leak check after I get the oil leak sorted ( thanks black baz for the blower upperer)just to make sure everything is plugged or connected.Pity it has to be pulled again cause I spent hours tidying up the looms and hoses etc but as I said, with no EGR and most of the brackets removed the plenum removal will be pretty easy:rolleyes:Like the other thread say's " It's never easy with a Zed". Another little job is re-aligning the steering wheel. I must have missed by one spline, but that is easy:thumbsup:

Very confusing that groove!! I filled it up with gasket maker and put some

on the head as well and it squeezed out quite a bit. Then I had worries that it would also squeeze inside as well and some might come off and block something so I took it back off and it was squeezed inside but whether it would have done damage I don't know. So then I filled the groove and had the sealer about 1mm above the surface of the cover. It seemed to work as I don't have any leaks but I would have preferred if they had put in a gasket there like the inlet cam cover so taking the guesswork out of it. Good luck finding the leak. Cheers.

Easy part done. Now WTF is wrong. Checked out old heads

[IMG][/IMG]yesterday and there is a plug, on both heads, on the exhaust side that goes into the oil gallery part of the heads. I just hope it's not............as he makes the sound of a departing crow FFFAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRKKKKK:sick::(:angry: Heat shields,Exh. manifolds:sick:

That's a show stopper. Require a NEW oil supply line for the D/S

[IMG][/IMG]turbo. The flare is double walled, in that the flare is folded in on itself, giving that nice smooth edge, and not unusual to crack when disturbed. Does anybody want to know what a real shit of a job on a TT is?:sick:None available from Nissan in Australia

A good brake shop should be able to make

one of those or alternatively a SS flexi pipe,
Try Cresta.
