I've been doing a bit more sussing out with regards to fitment location and there might be a problem for those of us with a manual car to fit the cannister to the same location at Jedi-77. Just to be sure your car is a auto right Jedi? Down the bottom of that space is another cannister which I think is the clutch assist tank or whatever it's called. depending on the length of the oil tank this looks like it may pose a problem. I'm looking at the idea of re-locating my battery to the boot and man that would leave alot of free real estate up front for some stuff. Any drama's with fitting a catch can to a zed? Trying to think what else I could stick in there... Anyway, just thought i'd share my concerns and help anyone avoid that potential problem before getting halfway through the job Ben
ahhhh.....well what the hell is the cannister down the bottom? Going out now to do some other stuff so i'll take a closer look. Hopefully it's something that can be removed.
the cannister and the rest of the system which goes behind the fender can be removed. All you do is bypass the hoses into your balance tube and you do not notice a difference in the feel of the clutch. Marks car was an auto converted to manual I believe, so they may not have bothered to put it in.
not yet vincent... I was expecting it on Friday, but I assume that it will definitely be here on Monday. I am slowly mailing out the kits (sorry for the slowness, started a new job and hence impossible to get time off work and do my own things)... Vic people just need to contact me to arrange pick up of there kits... Cheers
yes... my car was an auto, but was converted to manual in Japan. It comes fitted with a TT clutch booster thingy, but has no vacuum tank. The vacuum lines are tee'd directly into the balance pipe on the rear of the engine... Cheers
mine is vacuum assisted.... the vacuum assist was fitted in japan after the previous owner did an auto to manua conversion... But the vacuum lines are connected to the rear of my balance pipe on the plenum... Cheers
hehehe.... well, however it works, it works fine..... I have never driven a TT so maybe the feel of mine is different but with the engine off, the clutch pedal is quite firm and stiff. With the engine running (idle or driving) the clutch pedal is light and easy to engage and disengage.... is that how it is in a TT? Cheers
Yeah mine is pretty light (with cannister still installed) With car off though you can pump the pedal 3 or 4 times then it will go very heavy until you start it up again. Just wondering about those of us that are TT, will removing the vacuum assist tank make the clutch heavy while under boost? Not that your really on boost while changing gear, but would the vacuum assist have time to recover from positive pressure I wonder. I also have a twin plate clutch which might even make it heavier under those conditions. Looking at the oil tank in the kit though it's quite a bit bigger than I thought it would be so i'm definatly leaning towards a battery re-location and utilising that space for a few other things aswell. Ben
Info regarding second shipment Ok guys, the bad news is that the 2nd shipment has been held in customs. I got a shitload of paperwork last night informing me of why it was held and what I have to do.... anyway, to cut a long story short, I am currently in contact with customs and will try and get this organised asap... I dont think there should be any extra expenses because the supplier has valued the shipment as $US 759 which is approx $980 AUS. Having read all the customs documents last night, I should only have to pay extra expenses if the item is valued at $1000 AUS or higher.... I will keep everyone updated... Cheers
I wonder where it actually connects in on a TT because you'd think it would be most logical to connect before the turbo compressor inlet where things are always in vacuum.... Someone should go take a look.
