I have recently been coming into contact with fiberglass products that come from moulds that are so warped that they are nearly unusable. I assume that there are alot of CF manufacturers overseas that are flogging off parts in AUS that are not of top quality. I personally am growing tired of buying parts that need serious modification to fit. Recently I have been contemplating making some decent molds and producing some decent products that are vacuum formed and fit with no or minimal modification. What sort of products would the Zed community be interested in having available to them? Doors, hoods, guards, hatches, interior parts? Due to legality I am aiming these parts more toward the track racers but I am welcome to suggestions from everyone.
i think you will take most of the fibreglass business for zeds if you made perfect fitment partsss.... nose panels front bars vented gaurds bonnets skirts rear bars will mostly be aquired in the aftermarket world
also piss off gonzo haha alot of work is required to do what you ask if you are thinking about setting it up, just talk to gonzo who turned it into a full time gig also remember the part might be perfect at your end.. but will warp in the mail and thus ends up needing mods to fit just like the cheap china stuff
I was thinking more towards the Carbon fibre than the fiberglass but want to keep it as an option as its cheaper to produce. I have no intention of stepping on Gonzo' toes. He has provided numerous product to the zed community and is greatly respected.
I would be keen on 2+2 hatch, doors, hood, and targa panels. would prefer them to be thick made skins to make them as light as possible. go ahead and do IT!! especially doors that would shave sooo much weight of the fat old z.
Agreed. I have priced up the materials and CF isnt cheap. A CF front bar doesnt seem practical in my opinion. Front bars will inevitably hit something. Polyurethane will bend will little damage. Fiberglass may crack but anyone can repair one with a fiberglass kit from bunnings. But CF once it breaks is pretty much un repairable. So for the cost of one it isnt practical.
If you made a C/F hatch, we could put a polycarbonate window in it, and get rid of half a tonne of glass and metal.
WIN! Don't forget the rear bars too! I wouldn't mind making my own greddy front bar mould so I can always have a spare front bar! Might have to come visit more Al, I might learn a few things.
How about some cool stuff noone has. Like the impul rear wing, jun front bumper ect. Im thinking about importing the mission kit. I think thats what it is called. That front bar is mean. Rear bar, not so much. Ab-flu..... nevermind. How many do you expect to sell.
allready available in the US dude, apparently removing that weight from the zed makes it hop over bumps. plenty of threads on tt.net!
