hey guys, when i tap the accelerator or rev , when the revs drop back down it goes past idle point then picks back up, iv now set my idle to 1000 as any lower and it would sometimes stall. the problem is not always there, and i cant work out what it is, sounds somewhat like this thread: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=289438 heres a vid of the problem EDIT: to confirm, IACV working from what i know, and i just cleaned and tested it, no boost leaks whatsoever, all injectors are ohming fine, all injectors firing and all coilpacks working, so 6 cylinders running, 2 new o2 sensors working, just did plenum pull and 200k service.
My car is doing a similar thing at the moment, not so much when it's idling though. Check my post: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=289438 *Edit: oh I see you linked my thread in your post, heh. What I did was remove the tube that connects from the AIV solenoid to balance tube and so far it's fixed the problem for some odd reason. I'm going to try cap the balance tube tomorrow and bypass the AIV solenoid and see what happens.
mine idles fine, its just when i take off throttle it drops down like that. i have no AIV, PRVR, CC and no EGR, so basically no vacuum tubes to disconnect there
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3FJe-0Swa8 This is very similar to what's happening with my car (vid isn't a 300zx) Mind you I have no BOV's at all.
I have the same problem. I fixed the stalling problem a while ago by cleaning the MAF sensor and the throttle bodies at the same time, but I still drop idle like that. My idle is normal. I'm interested if anyone knows an exact reason for this (beyond the usual clean all connectors kind of answer your likely to get soon)..
my afm was just cleaned, i did this clean earlier after i read it, but ran outa tb cleaner so will try tomorrow, cheers
http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/FAQ/FAQpages/stall.html Found this on TT.net Wonder if it works? sounds like my problem 'could' be solved
I found this a while ago too. When I checked out my apexi intake, it has a strip where all of the mesh joins, so I turned it around and had it face the bottom of the car (figuring that the air disturbance would be similar). So I guess I should correct myself earlier. I cleaned MAF, throttle bodies and adjusted the filter all at the same time.
update:Well I thought i'd give my theory a go again, regarding my thread the other day (but i'll update in this one). I left the vac hose that goes between the balance tube and the AIV solenoid off, and the car runs fine, no RPM drops as you coast... but obviously leaving the hose off the balance tube is regarded a boost leak. I decided i'd try bypass the AIV, so i've done a complete bypass, and capped the balance tube vac point which used to go to the AIV solenoid, and I've still got the same problem. Drive along (any speed) hold clutch in, foot off accelerator, coasting down the road, watch the RPM drop almost to 0(and almost stalling sometimes) and then bounce back up to idle speed. I guess I'll have to give cleaning the MAF a go, and possibly throttle bodies. May also try the bit of tape on the filter... Not sure what else I could try. I still have an EGR solenoid & EGR on my car, not sure if this would have anything to do with it or not. Did you have any luck psyco?
My gut tells me fuel. If by having a vac leak you're stabilising the mixture and having no rev drops, then would it not make sense that you're running rich? A vacuum leak means you're sucking air in after the MAF.
I think i'll give the MAF and filter a bit of a clean, looks pretty grubby. What should I clean the MAF with?
