I don't know whether "dosing" is bad for the turbo or not, it probably is, but one thing for sure, there is no way it could spin the turbo in the opposite direction! It may slow down marginally, but it would never come to a sudden stop, and definitely wouldn't be able to spin backwards - it would explode under such a load!

I am interested to find out just how bad "dosing" is, i mean it may be bad, but not noticeably bad.

Maybe I could PM him and ask him if he knows how to hook neons up so when i back off my neon flashes to the doses that would be so fully hektik that excel drivers would post tents in their pants when they drive by.

Why are you insisting on making your engine do something bad the nissan engineers purposely installed systems to stop it happening???

Why not stop trying to put so much energy into making your car a worse design

Im sorry to say but it is flutter..........btw who ever told you that may tell you next time that fiting a airfilter will give you flutter.......

By putting in a pod, intercooler boosting the car will all pretty much give you more flutter..... well i think but the pod bit is still a little unexplained... but you need to have your stock recircs blocked off or a BOV that wont open easily to start your fluttering....

dixie is actually a pretty mad dj, part of the united DJ's. they play at heaps of the major clubs in melbourne. (have played at chasers, love machine, vatican etc)

he has a couple of songs with doses in it, release of the muzzas, return of the muzzas and bringing muzza back. (all of which are joking songs :p) he actually makes some good stuff

    Lag

Wouldn't this create a huge ammount of lag?
    - aside from the effect of not being good for the turbos (some people believe so, some don't - i reckon it cannot be good just opinion tho)

it would suck for performance tho...

    doesn't change performance at all

read and re-read what actually happens when it 'doses' :p

I heard the same.....slight loss of performace as the air comming back to the turbo(creating flutter) slows the wheel down slowly making it not spinning as fast as it would when in the next gear.......so thus creating lag......

true, on a manual it might have a fairly small effect, maybe the loss of .0001 seconds on a 1/4.. on an auto.. no worries!! :D

turbos can spin at over 50,000rpm. with the throttle butterfly open, there is somewhere for all that pressurised air to go (i.e. into the cylinders).

when the TB is suddenly closed (to idle), the compressor is still spinning and there is a large pressure build-up between the turbo and TB. its enough to at least spike the stress on the CHRA. this excess stress causes metal fatigue over time and fails much faster than designed. block your recirc valves, stick a manual boost gauge just before the TB and you should see a boost spike.

im sure engineers have tested this 20+yrs back and realised at 10psi+ boost compressor surge is doing something bad at least increasing lag, so they put the recirc valves.

dixie is playing at 1422 (lauderdale road, narre warren) thursday nights. i wonder if his sister is still cute
