The only way you'd really only get it is with two air filters and nowhere else for the excess boost to go.

Having a single pod/filter - if you've seen the pipes that go to it; snap close the throttle, when the air goes backwards through the system, the air will "bounce" into each other before heading down out of the air filter - the "bounce" will effectively cancel out the sound. Its generally why zeds don't get a whole lot of flutter.

 

My car doses thanks to the BOV's i got off Jamers but im only running 7psi, so it would be pretty loud with 16psi.

 

I don't get how a BOV gives you the dose sound? I thought putting a BOV in would make it impossible to dose because you'd be giving the air a place to escape from before it gets to the turbos, when you go off the throttle.

 

just addjust the BOV to the hardest setting and it will only release pressure at high boost/rpms, before that it will just give you compressor surge.

 

Oh ok. I didn't know you could do that... So much to learn about turbo cars. Wish I had one.

 

i installed my front mount on friday/saturday and when i hit boost and take foot of the gas at like 3000-4000rpm it makes the dosing sound but after that it just the woosssshhhhhhh of the bov

 

It's fine man, instead of your turbo lasting 12 years it will last 11.5 years so the damage is sweet **** all!

 

yeah im leaning towards doing it after hearing how cool it sounded on low boost low revs and just imaging how sick it would be on full boost high revs

i've put my boost jets back in and blocked the recircs off again, so if anyone wants to hear it, let me know.. fairly loud

btw does anyone reoil their BOVs for lube.......or know any tricks to make it stiffer aswell

 

Cleaning is

easy, pull em apart and use carbie cleaner, wipe em clean with a clean rag, then oil em with paslode impulse oil from bunnings about $10 a bottle. The oil is used to lubricate gas guns especially the piston and bore areas off the gun. It?s the real Mc Coy for bovs if you want em to work properly!

 

I always though

"dosing" referred to keeping the octane rating up on jet fuel. Had a mate who worked at Scherberg Air Base near Weipa. One of his jobs was to dose the 1 million litres of jet fuel that is stored there so that it didn't go off. Ahh well, learn something new each day.

 

ive decided to make my car dose after seeing a few videos and what not id like to see what it would sound like in the zed, but to do this do i just block of where the bov are any one got any idea of how to do this???

 

hahah i just tried to duck tape over the holes where the air escapes outta the bov it kinda started to work in a way but i think i gotta put more duck tape on lol

 

Take off the hose that joins your recirc valve to the intake and stuff a big piece of cheese in the hole to plug it up. That will make the sound extra fully sick.

The sound is not very loud on the Z. I had my recircs blocked off for a while because they leak at anything much over 12psi. The easiest way to do it if you don't want to use cheese, get some rubber chair/table leg feet from a hardware store in the right size, 30mm I think, and use them to cap the holes after you remove the recirc hose.

 

The biggest problem you are faced with is that DUCK tape is more suited to holding feathers in place (Duck feathers, naturally).

What you need to ask yourself is, "Do I really want to replace 'Goose Honk' with 'Duck Quacks'?".
If the answer is NO, then I suggest you try DUCT tape(this is not just some poultry excuse for humour).:zlove:
