i know it will be somewhere on here but i'm just to fat and lazy too look.
so please help a fat bloke out.
what ratios come with what cars ?
and how can you tell whats in a center ?

Only 2 diffs available - NA or TT.

the TT is the R230 diff - with a 3.690 ratio
the NA is the R200 diff - with a 4.083 ratio

NA has a 5 bolt side flange, and a normal 4 bolt input flange
TT has a 6 bolt side flange, and a CV on the input

    thanks for that.
    now another silly question
can you exchange gears or center's
ie put a TT center in a NA subframe or put a TT gear set in a NA housing ??

Just swap the diff, massive upgrade for TT's

if you mean N/A swap ..not always a good idea for a 2 seater ..

Have a quick read of this - I did a NA subframe swap on my TT:

    NA Swap thread

There is a list of the bits you need there too. You can't just swap the diff or gears over, it needs to be the complete subframe.

Nope, the NA is an R200 and TT a R230 diff, that's 200mm and 230mm (9.06") crown wheel.

You can swap the entire subframe from an NA to a TT.

There is a "Leader" 4.1 gear for the R230 but its currently out of production, although they are looking at a limited production run in the states. You can still find them from people selling up parts stashes, search the "for sale" section to see recent sales.

If you are chasing a diff with a variety of centres and available ratios, the R200 is the way to go.

There are some aftermarket LSD centres for the R230, no mechanical centres to my knowledge are readily available, all upgraded viscous.

I did start poking around with some Nissan 4X4 front diffs that use the R230 with some tall ratios, mainly to pair up with a non overdrive TH400 auto trans and get 120 kph RPM under 3500, down to around the stock 2500 RPM.

    EDIT: Here's a link to a Titan forum: http://www.titantalk.com/forums/tit...k-im-throwing-general-differential-gears.html

Sounds like your heading to the drag strip, so you might be interested that ARB make an air locker for the R230, no idea if it will fit our R230 setup, but a leader 4.1 rear end with an air locker would help get the turbos going ASAP, would be interesting.

You can't swap the centre, and you can't just swap the diff. You have to swap the entire subframe and hubs.

    Hey Fattie

I believe Nissan Armada and Titan trucks (US) have a version of the R230 as a front diff , Unsure if they could be made to fit the Z cradle , or if gears can swap over , Salisbury style gear specific cases (like Dana 60) I have read of Armada owners using 300zx Limited slip (with mods) I have seen 2.93 and 3.36 mentioned .

    Hey Pete how many spline are 300ZX R200 and R230 diffs ? (29 and 30 I think )

    Here's a 33 spline R230 air locker from ARB.

    http://store.arbusa.com/ARB-Air-Locker-Nissan-R230-Irs-33-Spline-354-Up-RD137-P3525.aspx

They also have R200 air lockers.

    why not ?

im curious coz i had this planned (full n/a subframe swap) .... is it because of the weight ???

Leader gears FTW! Although if someone really wants mine we can arrange something ;)

Mark Leader currently has another run being produced. They should be available in about a month

  15. BLACK BEAST

    BLACK BEAST SLICKTOP TT R-SPEC

yeah weight distribution - hicas removal and N/A swap takes alot of weight from the rear..and that weight is low near the ground where its needed.

reason why I kept my R230 while ripping out as much from the front..and still unbalanced.

Depends if good handling is important to you and what you use the car for.

yep yep thought so, do u know how much the weight difference is. im thinking 100kg but am i mistaking this between the auto and manual gearboxes ?

  17. BLACK BEAST

    BLACK BEAST SLICKTOP TT R-SPEC

over 30kg for both ... but like I said weight low to the ground ..removing that up at the front on an already front biased 2 seater becomes harder .

also strength was the other reason .

    ZX1990 2+2 TT Manual

Interesting - not something I thought about when doing the swap - although i have a 2+2. The car now feels more balanced than what it did - although Im not sure if the change was more due to the subframe spacers i fitted at about the same time.

    Ok here is the deal

    i have a 2 seat NA 300, so I take it i have the R200 diff - with a 4.083 ratio ?

I am putting a LS1/LS3 type engine and 6 speed in it for ...(well its going to be a sort of everything car, bit of lap sprint, bit of drags, just a toy for me and the wife)not for road use and totaly gutted.
weight distribution isnt an issue as the whole motor is sitting behind the front crosmember thus moving a whole heap of weight rearward.

the reason for the question is I am thinking 4.083 might run out of legs a little too early for my liking and was wondering how i could change that.

so from reading everyone's reply's (thankyou all) if i wanted to use the TT R230 diff - with a 3.690 ratio i would need to buy a whole rear subframe assembely but this will be heavier, is that correct ?
