Nope, they both muck about with emissions.

    lol

That sucks, but what dosent seriously? I mean, original exhaust rusts eventually gets replaced, increase in emissions, does that mean its illegal aswell? And any car the pretty much increases power increases emissions naturally but thats not illegal also.... god the laws dont make sense sometimes.

That's different. With a Atmo BOV as you vent air that has been metered the engine doesn't know that is has been vented. So it still dumps in the fuel to account for the fuel that it doesn't know has been vented. Make sense? This can make it so rich that it can stall the car.

Boost controllers = more air = more fuel = more emissions. More than it was tested with under the ADR's. In 99% of cases it is still within the very lax rules for '88 to '96 cars, but who wants to muck about getting tested?

    Yeah

True, if its within ADR's limits in 99% of cases though I guess they shouldn't be illegal, stupid how they they do things but I get ya with the 1st BoV point :)

5 rats to deal with one defect incident. Typical misuse of resources by the policia yet again.

A friend of mine got kicked out of the force because he refused to pull people over for that kind of stuff and for not pulling over people doing up to 10kmh over the limit. In his dismissal case he said . . .

"Why would I want to pull over people doing a few k's over the limit when there is so much else to do"

Now thats a guy whom would have made a good cop.

These other oxygen theiving excuses for people are not cops. They wear insignia, have guns, run in packs, have a heirachy and a gang mentality. I know of some other groups that act exactly the same except they do not have the "law" on their side.

We see crap on TV about some cops getting beaten up on the job. What do they expect? You dont see the guys that they bash on TV very often . . . .

When they treat people the way they do its to be expected that some people will "resist". Infact it is LEGAL to resist "unlawful arrest". In one case a jodge in Vic ruled in favor of a woman whom had defended herself against a cop "stalker" stating that it was legal that she "resisted unlawful arest, up to and including the death of the officer". This was of course an extreme circumstance.

Cops make me mad . . . sorry.

Agreed, like the saying goes 'Do you want to be a cop, or do you want to pretend to be a cop?' That's incredibly shit-house about your mate, sounds like he actually wanted to make a difference but wasn't put in the situation to do so, too bad his superiors don't give a crap.
Mind you I think the police are mainly 'the messengers', and are probably told by a higher power what to do/what not to do/what to 'Police' as such, I personally think it is one big PR campaign they run these days, which is sad and doesn't give us much hope.
Like Mitch said in the first post, probably freshman cops with an axe to grind, I have a mate at the academy at the moment and I'm eagerly waiting for when he finishes as I want to know what sort of information they feed them/brainwash them with, particularly with the Traffic Unit, it will be very interesting. :)

They also keep you safe from being murdered or raped(not necessarily in that order)by the thousands of assholes out there that would have done so by now, if they weren't scared of being caught and gaoled.

Will Police make an error from time to time? Of course, they are Human Beings, and Humans make mistakes(the last one that didn't, became the subject of a "Best Selling" novel written about 2000 years ago).

I would love to see how long any of us would survive in a society that didn't have the equivalent of Police.:nono::zlove:

Both of my girlfiends parents are cops. Not in the traffic unit tho... They dont particularly like traffic cops either and say that most of the cops who volounteer for traffic are the ones who have a chip on their shoulder... Straight from the horses mouth :)

    There will always be police

Interestingly all human social grouping from the most primitive cultures to high society all implement a set of rules & expectation for their people / members to bide by, and similarly establish a group to enforce these rules.

Seems to me that there is a bigger emphasis on making money these days than serving the people.. The times have changed IMO and that's not necessarily the police officers faults but the CEO types who control them.. It's a public service, not a business FFS

you guys who hate the police need to understand, there's two types of police.

police officers (the ones who help)

    and

    TOGGIES.

if you don't know the difference, or fail to give a shit to see the difference.. then ignorance is bliss.

mate.. to call cops rats is blind stupidity.
One day, maybe next week or maybe 15-20 years from now, you'll need assistance from the police.
after they help you, consider calling them a dignifying name next time.

I was driving along West st in Toowoomba yesterday, with a 300zx (red) following me ,until a cop in a unmarked Grey vw spotted him , he wasn't speeding (he was stuck behind me) Cop did an unindicated illegal turn and promptly pulled him over. (hope the victim wasn't from here)

I've needed assistance from cops and got nothing.
My fiancee needed assistance from police after she was assaulted with a club-lock . . . nothing.
My friend needed assistance from police when his house was being broken into WHILE HE WAS HOME . . . nothing.
I had a guitar of mine that was stolen from my hose SOLD at cash converters, even though I had informed the police of whom stole it, where it was, and RECEIPTS and photograps showing that it was mine.

    thats only an EXTREMELY short list . . . . .

To call me stupid for calling them rats, is a type of ignorance. But you should not be insulting other forum members by calling them stupid.

After they help me, I will drop dead of surprise. After they do the same to you, dont be surprised because you have been informed.

    Peace :)

Keep me safe how? LOL. If someone wanted to murder you the cops arent going to stop them. The Gangland wars showed that.

No one is responsible for keeping me safe other than myself.

Working as a bodyguard I get to see the worst of police firsthand and how they act and talk, even about the victims.

The fact that some poor fool feels the need to have a personal bodyguard, is all the proof needed to support an increase in Police numbers.
What we don't need in our daily lives, is a bunch of "loose cannons/Bouncers" running around playing at "Cops & Robbers".

I get hired by many different people. I've never been a bodyguard for "some poor little fool"

:lame:pretty damn lame to try and have a go at me through such a detail, you would not be able to even contemplate doing my job.

Where on the news are the people being bashed by supposed "loose cannons"?
Where are the people being shot by them?
Where are the people being treated badly by them?
Where are the people screaming for reform in the bodyguard industry?

Most of the cops ARE loose cannons.
The Victoria police were recently denied the right to have tazer guns because "they cannot be trusted with weapons" . . that was a direct quote from the Australian police commissioner when making a statement on the news.

All of the above questions I asked are easily explained when asked about the police.

Where are the people shot by them? On the news.
A kid was shot recently because he had a knife in a skate park. Shot by multiple officers with one bullet entering the back of his head. Some years back a woman was shot on St.Kilda road because she appeared to be carrying a weapon. It turned out to be an umbrella. There are many many many more.

Where are the people being treated badly by them? On the news.
A lady was just given $20k hush money by the police because they stuffed up her investigation in the football rape charges.

Where are the people screaming for reform in the Police industry? . . . . On the news of course.

I am not saying we dont need police. I am saying that the standards and quality have dropped severely.

"But look what they have to put up with" - Dont be a police officer if you cant handle the work. I have to put up with a lot in my job also. Everyone does.

A bodyguard is not someone whom is playing at being a cop. We are employed to guard the safety of a client. We are there to do a specific job, we are hired legitimately through legitimate companies that have nothing to do with their industry.

Hope that clears things up a little.

many years ago I was a bouncer at a golf resort, where weddings were held every week end.
Worst trouble I ever had was when a police officer was getting married, family members where beating the shit out of each other outside and the officer was standing over me
making sure I did nothing (usually any violence and you leave) One ****ed situation......

Had another situation police were looking for someone, I was at this golf resort all night, told them I hadn't seen anyone and told them I would call if I did as
that was part of my job, then the old officer starts giving me shit I basically just watched to see if he was going to try anything as he seemed unstable luckily his younger partner led him away, my advice allays be careful of anyone with a gun whatever fancy uniform they happen to wear.

    Its ok

Make everyone made (including me) for being fined for really stupid shit for going a couple of k's over a the speed limit (on a downhill slope) or being targeted for having a nice car etc, I agree with most of what you said.
