    as the title suggests.
and before anyone asks:rolleyes:.. NO.. i did not do anything wrong to attract attention, i was honestly just taking the TT for a spin down town to get some bits and bobs then home, driving down street, cop car goes past, chucks a u turn at the lights, put hits lights on and speeds after me and pulls me over.
2 police proceed to go over the car until a unmarked car pulls up and another one gets out to go over the car as well:eek:, then 5 minutes later, a paddy waggon pulls up and 2 more get out :eek:... (I reakon i attracted all the males on duty LOL)

    Anyway..
it was then i realised my eng certificate was lapsed (not filled in properly or somethign)... :W:
    so i got defected for;
    the doors
the exhaust (something about not having baffles in it :S never heard of that one before)
exhaust being too loud (but the car wasnt even running at the time :S LOL)
For the SUBS not being secured (when they are strapped down by the cargo straps)
For the wheels (20" rims) [thanks improperly filled eng certfificate]
    The FMIC
    The Twin air intake
The boost controller (which they thought was my turbo timer at first)
    The BOV's !,
    the guages i have... lol :( ..

I must admit i felt very persecuted and profiled as i wasnt doing anything wrong, and for 5 police to be going over the car, i had i reakon all the on duty cars with me. And targeting my exhaust when i could name about 30 right now in town with cannons that dont have a "baffel" ..phh...:nono:

Anyway.. here is my question time now..

i currently have Turbosmart VeePort BOV' located in the recirculation valve position..
I am thinking to get either turbo smart Dual Port or most likely Caz's GFB Hybrid BOV's.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these, I am leaning towards the GFB?
    Also
When i remove the Vee Port in theory the GFB should be relitivly easy to put on correct?

Lastly, i may need to make some money back ehre, would anyone be curious to purchase the turbosmart VeePorts i have if i decided to sell them ?

Sounds like they were fresh from boot-camp. New officers seem to have an axe to grind.

What's the deal with your doors? And gauges?

Also, how did they get you on the blow off valves and the dual intake? Did you admit guilt, or did they somehow see behind the front bar?

wtf 5cops for 1 car?! what are they fuxking doing on their duty? what a waste of resource!
if you know you will deadly be defected, you should say "i am not going to say anything until my lawyer arrive. dont touch my car until then"

You mentioned your eng cert was lapsed... does this mean they just did you for everything that was listed on the certificate? If so thats really shit, hope you sort it out ok. And also 5 cops is stupid overkill... but maybe something to do with living in goulburn, id imagine there would be a lot of cops just out of training ready to ping ya for stuff like that.

Shouldnt be too hard for most things...

Doors...? Engineered... or replaced back to stock. (Wreckers for the doors)
Exhaust - Borrow a stockie or wreckers
    Subs - Pull subs out
Wheels - Borrow some stockies or ford rims
FMIC is not illegal unless it sticks out past the front bar
Air intake... Mod it back to stock
    Boost controller - Bypass
    BOV - Swap
Gauges? - Not illegal unless they block vision (Easy to remove temp tho)

Pain in the ass but defo do-able with minimal $...

I've got 20" rims at the moment. Slowly building up bits and pieces just in case i get stickered. So far got stock rims, stock recirc valves, stock exhaust minus muffs...
Getting defected is ineffective. You go over the pits with the stuff they want u to have to pass... You come home and put it back on again. :) Round and round we go...

Seriously your car reads like a defect magnet

Seriously ... 20' rims on a 300zx is so disproportional you may as well of had a big sign on your car that said 'defect me'. It does not matter how you were or were not behaving. Those rims are an instant defect magnet.
Now some here will say 'no those rims are not and they look kool', but the real-world reality is with the mindset of the highway patrol and all of the state governments drive to get "hoons" (and potential hoons) off the road... those disproportionate size rims say hoon or "wannabee gangster". So they did not catch you doing anything wrong, but your body language says otherwise. It does not matter what is right or wrong, fair or not you must remember the mindset of those who pulled you over.

Then you pulled over and swung open those kool doors. Unless you are driving a Lamborghini those style of doors instantly screwed you. Forget about engineering certificates or not, you are gone. Remember the mindset of those who pulled you over.

The cop walked up to the car from behind and saw that cannon exhaust, which is another disproportional item for a 300zx. That single cannon is another defect magnet. So it can be assumed like most young hoons you have got gutted cats or no baffles ... does not matter if you do or not ... 'your exhaust is too f#@ken loud'.

That is three on your defect counts and I don't even know what you look like at the time and I only have a written description of your car, but I have put myself in the mindset of the highway patrol officer and the government overlords scaremongering about hoons on our roads.

Shell I continue with the defect list.

I will assume you have a couple of gauges on your A-Pillar (maybe a big tacho, not saying you have). With gauges on the A-Pillar, if they are outside the lines of the A-pillar when looking forwards and come back past the line of the end of the dash before the steering wheel then that is another defect point.
A massive tacho is another, 'I am a hoon' flag.

Pod filters are also another defect magnet, now given that our pod-filters are in the nose then the potential fire hazard in the engine bay is not a point of contention. Reiterating from my long phone discussions with the NSW RTA technical authority and his ADR equivalent, the problems with pod-filters are they change the induction system and hence the entire exhaust system from beginning (intakes) to end (exhaust tips) need to be engineered and noise tested.

Seriously, do you honestly think a pair of straps are going to stop a 10-20-40kg sub box from not coming lose and fly around crushing your head in a roll over. Also a big boom-boom sub-box says hoon or noise disturbance at best.

"boov" "boov" "boov" translates to 'boy racer'. So lets defect you for that.

Now I am NOT trying to do a 'I told you so', I am trying to describe the mindset of the officers that went over your car. As far as they are concerned they have got another hoon off the road. And based only on the textual description of your car now and when you purchased it it screams out loud HOON. You can flame me if you want but from the mindset of the law-makers and the enforcers of the law that is how your car comes across.

    Now I have not even gone into how you might have been dressed, because I don't know a thing about your appearance; but if you were wearing;
    • a baseball cap on backwards,
    • had your jeans hanging off your bum (to the point where you cant run cause they would cause you to fall over) and you are exposing your undies brand,
    • shaved punk hair,
    • pimp gangster rap jewelry,
    • dressed like you are member of the HSV race team
    • or certain ethnic appearance
Then they also defected you for your appearance.

You got to remember police officers are human beings, and like all human beings they have their own believes, opinions, and perceived opinions of people (& cars) based on stereo types.
So you can forget about it being not fair because that is not the reality of the real-world we all live in.

'Who said life is fair, anyone saying different is selling something'.

or the protection glass on the sedans and wagons.

edit: Just realised do this at the last moment when you are gonna be defected and you know it. Last time i got defected because my the engineer hadnt finished writing the doco up.

I gave him a list of mods which he failed to address :p hahahahaah i was the biggest cock to him because i knew in a couple days when i got the full legal report it would be my get outta jail free card

I believe he purchased it that way

I believe he purchased the car this way, and I will admit if it is the car I remember advertised for sale on carpoint or carsales then it is quite attractive kool car for the young driver, but for the older owner and police it comes across as a defect list.

The ferrari tail lights are a matter of personal preference, I have got them and prefer them to the OEM. And it can camouflage the type of car we have. I have seriously been asked a few times what type of car (to what type of Ferrari) my car is both by young kids and civilians (i.e. mature males and females / mums-dads) at service stations.

Lets fill in more info here,

AS for my appearance at the time i was wearing my jeans, my skins shirt (as i had been at the gym) and my red, leightweigh over zip up jacket. I am half italian so have dark skin and dark hair. :S

AS for the door defect i didnt get out of the car and put the doors up, i got out without putting the door up and closed it, one of the officers then proceeded to open both my doors, almost broke one in the process!

As for admitting the dual intake and BOV no.. one got on his dam hands and knees and without touching the car, somehow slithered underneath far enough to see one of the vee port BOV just behind the front mount, and the intake could just be seen apparantly from looking at an obscure angle in the engine bay towards the front of the car :S

However the one thing that gets me is, i kept the dual exhaust with Xforce cannons, but what is this "BAFFEL" business, honestly first time i have heard of it and if so, what about every damn cannon muffler on every damn lancer/excel that drives past!

the guages are mounted in a wierd place, in the passenger side dash (which they said is an alteration to the soft part of the dash :S causing a safety hazard on impact for passengers).. i asked about A pillar guages and they all said "A pillar guages are perfectly legal as long as its not a big TACHO.

and lol, i took the under car neons off, interior ones were hidden and off at the time,

Anyway, this should be all right to clear
    Doors (eng)
    FMIC (eng)
    POD (eng)
BOV (switch to GFB hybrid or dual port turbosmart)
    Wheels (Eng)
Exhaust (if i need a baffel just put a baffel in :S) and do a dB test on it.
Guages in dash (remove or get cleared or put on A pillar)
Subs (well, they will just secure them a bit better i guess).

guess ill keep you all informed.
