Hey all, sorry for the short notice, but I'm having a tech day at my place NEXT SATURDAY the 17th.

I may spill over to the Sunday depending if I get all my stuff done. I want to drive the car up to Friday night, and then be able to drive again Sunday night.

Beer and snags as per normal. I live in Port Kennedy, which is a suburb of Rockingham.

I have to change a clutch and gearbox, and would appreciate any help.
I can get the car up on stands and ramps. Hopefully I can get the exhaust off early Saturday morning.

I have the following to assist:
    Undercover workshop
Mostly all the tools I need
I can get the use of a compressor, but don't have a rattle gun or any sockets
    Service manual (the book version)
    Consult cable

If anyone wants other work done, now is a good opportunity to get it done. I live on a corner block, so I can easily fit another car on the rear drive, and another 4 on the front drive, and I have side parking for around 8 cars.
Hopefully we will have a few people here that can pass on some good info.

Anyway, let me know if you want to come along and I will PM you my address.

    Dave

I would love to come along to learn how to change the clutch on these things. I think mine is starting to slip! I wanna go to the cruise though since it will be my first one :(

Well, you're welcome to come along as the clutch will be replaced in my car also.

Lets see how many people can make it. Maybe I get the exhaust and gearbox off on Saturday, and everyone comes around on Sunday to help me put it back together?

    Pre-cruise tech day? :)

I will try to make it. I don't think I have anything else planned, but my workplace might have other ideas ;)

Excellent Aidan, I was hoping you could make it.

Great guys, you are all more than welcome :)

So, for Aidan and Simmo to answer:

I will be taking a gearbox off an NA engine I have here, and that box and clutch is going into my car. Obviously I also have to take off my exhaust.

I would also like to replace my existing short-shifter. Aidan, I think you mentioned you have one I could have?

Actually whilst I am in there, I may as well replace my centre bearing. But only if the one to go in is known to be newer.

    What else do I need?
    Gaskets?
    Gasket goo?

    Any advice appreciated.

PS, no I wont be doing a plenum pull just yet - that can happen later as I doubt I have the time to get the stuff required.

Damn. Where do I get all that? Nissan?

And I have to find the part numbers.

Does these diagrams have all the numbers?

Ok, so this is what i think:

    rear main seal 32136
    shifter bushes 34139P (x2), 34556
    throw out bearing (preventative) 32887PA
    clutch pivot ball (preventative) 30537

Can someone please confirm these are the correct numbers, and that these are the only ones I need.

Edit: Is the rear main seal that number or is it 91347?

Try to pop down if I can finish my car by then. you will be able to take down gearbox by 12 pm if you start at 8.00am. an hour max to take out gearbox if the exhaust is already off. try to get a transmission jack. wish i had one.

Lol. If it takes me that long, we are in trouble. I can remove the exhaust, gearbox and engine in 3 hours. :)

But yer, be good to catch up. Come on down.

Ok, so I also should do the front gearbox seal 32113, as well as the gasket 32112.

Pretty sure the "rear main seal" (called a "rear oil seal" in all the Nissan literature) is 32136.

Oh yer, and I need oil too. Amsoil 75w90 or MT90 seems to be the way to go, but this is going to depend on price.

    Comments?
