This may be a stupid question, but do I still need the pre-existing speaker box?

Do I put it back in, then use the wires coming out of it, or should I get rid of it all together and make a wire from the plug that originally connected to it?

And why are there more wires going into it than just the two for the speakers?

    Thanks

    Bose enclourse

    Hi,

The box (enclosure) is from the factory Bose stereo. The reason it has extra wires running into it, is because the factory setup has small individual amps for each speaker.

You don't need the enclosure left in place, other than it may act as a slight baffle for the back of the speaker....but considering how much the door pods hold the speaker out from the existing enclourse, I doubt it would do much.

Would also come down to what type of speakers your using.

    Cheers
    Mark

    There is no need

To use the stock BOSE Speaker boxes, Most new speakers are infinite baffle (Free to air) and i would not recomend connecting your new speakers to the BOSE amp As it is likely have a new head unit with an internal/ external amp

P.s. I would recomend replacing the stock wiring to the speaker as a precaution(it's not imperative but just recomended)

    I LIKE These!!

Peter, can I look into these with you in about a month or two? I've got too much on my plate right now but was hoping to leave my name with you for future reference. I'm very interested in these and think they would make a great addition to Chris Touponces's rear sub enclosures which I'm also looking at acquiring. As I said, I've got too much going on right now with just getting back from my tour in Afghanistan and preparations on going to the Z Nationals in a few weeks in Atlanta, Georgia.
If unable to sell these in a few months, I understand.
    Cheers,
    John

got the pods on thursday, looks great, fantastic craftsmanship.

Was wondering, should I just screw and glue the pod over vinyl and where the original speaker is? or is there something more complex...like taking the door apart and stuff?

    Thanks

hey can you still do the twin pod for me? 1x 6.5" and 1x 4" with the 6.5 toward the front and the 4" more toward the rear, and if each speaker had its own lil bubble would look nice too :)

also do you reckon you could make rear pods for mounting in a 2 seater right behind the seats? you know to replace the 2 plastic pieces which do nothing there :p any ways let me know!

Actually, I'd be interested on something to go there on the back and replace the stock pieces too.

    Hi Guys

Sorry about the delay over the last week - I've gone back to work as I've run out of sick leave, and still had to make my doctor's appointments during the day.

Anybody who's still waiting for door pods - they've been sent now. if you haven't received your set by next Thursday, I want to know about it so I can chase it up with Auspost on Friday. If you need to contact me, my mobile number is 0423487790 - don't be afraid to call, I might sound like I'm 50, but I can still talk.

vaughn & nemz - I'm not too sure what i can do with the rear speaker area, if you want to throw some ideas around/have pictures, I'd be more than happy to take a look (cause I hate the way that the ratty arse cover looks).

Also, the dual pods - I've got some rough mock ups in fabric and cardboard, I'll post those tomorrow after I get some batteries for my camera.

A rear setup would be good

But take some time and get better first mate!

Hope you start feeling better soon :)
