VIC Cruise to Inverloch Saturday 7 May 2011

Sorry bout all the questions Cliff, I guess I'm just hanging out for another Zed Cruise (also I just watched 2 episodes of Top Gear lol!!) :br:

 

Hmmmm.... mothers day....

If I'm right...... May 7 is Mothers Day....... which means between having a day with my wife, my mum and mother in law, I dont think I'll be cruising on that day...... even if I have the zed back from the painters by then..

Looks like I'm out guys...

Yeah. Mother's day is the 8th. If you wanna give her an early present, take her on the cruise .

I drove the route yesterday - a mate from South Australia is visiting so I had to show 'em what our roads are all about. The route looks good. No closures. I though there might've been some road works East of Inverloch because of the flooding earlier this year but all is well.

I will post it up tonight. Basically, the route is this:

Starting point Packenham

• South Gippsland / Bass Highway to Inverloch - A relatively sedate drive until you get past the Phillip Island turnoff. (about 1 hour drive)
• Lunch at Inverloch. Check out the beach, town etc. 1 - 2 hours
• Inverloch-Venus Bay road (C442) to just north of Tarwin Lower road 20 minutes
• Hang a left on to Lower Tarwin Road - There are some really fun twisties and bends on this road. 40 minutes
• Head north on the South Gippsland Highway where there are some FANTASTIC twisties to Leongatha. 40 minutes
• Then we take the Strzelecki Hwy all the way to Morwell. For anyone who has never driven this road, check it out on a map. It looks like a 3 year old drew it. Lots and lots of twisty stuff all at 100km/h speed limits and through some great bushland. 1 hour.
• Stop at Morwell to have a coffee and talk about how AWESOME that road was. 1 hour
• Sedate drive on Princes freeway back to Packenham. You can continue on from there to anywhere in Melbourne or if you're staying in Inverloch / Venus Bay, it's less than 1 hour away! 1 hour.

One big happy loop!!

I'll use google maps to draw it tonight and post up. I first did Strzelecki during Black Saturday when they closed Princes Highway due to the bushfires. It is a fantastic driving road.

Pretty much cuts my trip time down by half coming from Sale, looks like it'll be a fun drive!

And Mark, you've got a 2+2 now, even if it is Mothers Day, just bring the 3 girls in the back and all will be well

 

Damn i wish i could come, work at 5:30 at crown that night , if we were to start the cruise at 7 i would have enough time to make it, but then i cannot wake up that early anymore .

Argh, work needs me saturday and sunday, I'm not gonna be able to make it! sorry everyone, gave a good cruise

 

Put me down as a 'maybe', if funds allow by the 7th - I'll be right onto this !

 

I propose a start time and start point of 9am at Pakenham McDonalds. 98 Princes Highway, Pakenham. Is that ok with everyone?
