yerp... and here it comes EPIC PHAIL by TV STATION...... I can see it in the papers now.. Thats a fineable offence, whoever was driving the car for the filming, didnt have headlights on at night, therefore should be punished, and there is video proof....
QUICKEST way out is clutch in I guess if Auto it would be more scary and you'd have to go with planting foot on brake (which will be your natural reaction) followed by getting it in neutral the problem is, thats all well and good in theory but its like the plane crash scenario. They reakon some people burn to death in a crashed plane because in the panic, they forget how to undo thier seatbelt (try and undo it like a car one, not a plane one) Its one of those things. Knowing what to do is the easy part. having the presence of mind in a split second emergancy to actually do it.... thats another level.
If I read the VIN number correctly when it flashed past (love IQ with rewind and pause) it was an auto 4 seater NA made in 9/89
Yep, i certainly did. Remember saying to heavytrevy, he's travellin without headlights! lol no wonder...... pretty poor re-inactment then hey...
Im pissed i didnt watch this. Sounds like it was very interesting to watch. I had the chance but thought you guys will talk about it on the forums and ill find out the goss on it and maybe get a video posted. But looks like you cant just go to youtube and find the episode on there.
missed the show :bash: used to live in leichhardt so know that corner well too... don't know if they covered it in the show but the most dangerous drivers on our roads are not always the ones that have the crash. any1 who knows that bit of road knows that the driving standard along there is as bad as the road surface. couple of time almost ended up in the side of the building before the armco on account of bashed up white delivery vans or trucks executing their self appointed right to all three lanes. agree that he was probably going a bit fast (yes TT snobs NAs can break the speed limit too), very interested by the whole throttle stuck thing (only needs to be stuck momentarily to cause driver to panic/loss of control)
What also shocked me about this episode was when they played the CCTV footage... You could clearly see all the other cars just flying past and not stopping The person who actually attended the scene was a dude that lived near by and heard the accident! I think that was very poor effort and form for the cars that were travelling behind the ZX I know if it was me and I saw that happen I would stop and try and assist / help the person and obviously call the police / ambulance. But touch wood I never have to witness an accident as bad as that one.
