Apparently it's to do with the air already been measured by the maf and then vented to atmosphere. The engine won't know it's been ventt and will still deliver fuel based on the maf. Not sure if fitting a map sensor would avoid this but idoubt it.

Pulled over once in 7yrs. for a RBT with a nice hello & have a good day comment. My car is a twin turbo and runs nice and quiet. I am an old silver blond bloke who was pleasant to them.

Basically in QLD: Atmospheric is illegal, recirculating is legal.

Video at the bottom shows an example of one that can be recirculated to the intake:

And re. cops in QLD, there is a mix of bad, good and in between in every profession (ie. average person having a bad day). I've generally had OK experiences with police in the 9 years of ownership, anytime I've been booked for speeding I've deserved it quite frankly. I've always found that a good way to talk with police if they pull you over is to get out of the car without a scowl on your face. Doesn't mean you won't get picked up for anything, but when I've been pulled over by highway patrol and they check the height and it JUST touches underneath the centre of the car, they've been fine with it.

EDIT: Oh and don't forget to turn your turbo timer off if you have one.... ;)

Vent to atmosphere Bov's are illegal because of just that, its an emissions issue and there's no way to have a legal atmo bov.

Pod Filters are illegal because they believe they get saturated with fuel and explode/burn  i've seen it happen on cars with carby's, won't happen on a fuel injected engine though.
