    Hey guys,

Just installed a set of HID's in my Z32 today. Geez what a difference they made! I can now actually see at night. In the past I really had to use the fog lights also coz I didn't have enough light.

Needless to say I dont need to use the fogs anymore.

If anyone wants some good cheap HIDs for their Z32 - go grab some from this ebay seller. Cost me under $70 delivered for H3. You can choose whatever colour temp you want. I got 4300k and its very white.

So yeh no need to buy expensive sets that are designed for 300zx. Just get a H3 ebay set and you'll be happy like me !!

Here is the link to a listing. Search the sellers other items to find others.

Sorry no before pics. I was too excited to install the new ones that I didnt bother.

I suppose you'll just have to take my word for it. Btw photos dont really do them justice.

I mounted the ballasts in the nose panel. Worked well.

Will take some pics of the install 2moro and upload them

interesting. im guessing the 4300k is the highest one to go for without getting any tinge of blue. i really hate the blueish tinge. do your 4300k have any sign of blue ??

    thanx ;);)

The 4300's are very white with a slight tinge of blue. Mine look great and fitted up well.

Gotta love HID's. Just be careful how you aim them too high so you dont get picked on by the FUZZ.

they are called supervision, my ballasts are zip tied onto my pod holder thing :bash:

I didn't see H3C replacements in this ebay ad.

Theres everything else but not H3C according to the bulb choise available. If I was to do this I would put them in low beam to begin with.

Ideally, I prefer to have one balast that would do both low and high beam. 2xbalasts only.

It appears currently that if you want to use HID for low and high beams it means 4x balasts to install.

You don't need to get H3C, the H3 fit in perfectly without any mods. They plug into the balast.

Do you guys have halogen bulbs stock? If so it's illegal to use HID bulbs in a halogen bulb housing.

If you dont have high/low beam, it's illegal aswell.

The only difference between H3 and H3C is that H3C has 2 wires (+12V and ground) while H3 has one wire for 12V and uses the globe shell for ground.

    mrkarter77 No Really, They do!!!

I did some research on this when i got mine, and found that it was legal, if you have a projector style lens, which the z has in the low beam, not the high.

Havent had too much of a problem from the po po... not from the lights anyway :mad:

And for HID's they are more like H3C anyway coz the 2 wires from the HID bulb go to the ballast and dont ground on the headlight unit.

So yeh definetly no need to get H3C. Thats just a scam that some ebay sellers try to tell you that you need special ones for 300zx. Total crap. Just get normal H3. I guarantee that mine fitted 100% perfectly.

300ZXT - yes we know HIDs arent a legal upgrade coz the car didnt come with them standard. Not really an issue. Lots of ppl do it. Uncovered pod filters are illegal too and everyone has one.

High/low beam in the Z32 use 2 completely different bulbs. I only upgraded the low beam. No need to do high beam unless you do lots of outback trips as the low beam hids are better than my normal highbeam anyway. And yes each hid bulb needs it own ballast. So you would need 4 for high beam and low beam. Some other types of bulbs have low/hi beam integrated in the one bulb. Z's dont do this. So yeh i'd just be getting the low beam ones.

MoulaZX - just choose any one of them. As far as I know they are all the same. WHen you actually buy the item you then tell them what type of bulb / colour temp you want. I got H3 - 4300k.

I'll post pics of my simple install today.

Well the usual accepted temperature for white light is around 5500K which is about what sunlight on a clear day is but how we perceive colour is extremely relative so a light at 4300K will look cool next to light at 2800K and warm next to light at 6500K. Given that most artificial light is warm rather than cool a 'truely neutral' light at 5500K will seem cool as we will be expecting it to be warm. (far more of what we see comes from our brain than our eyes which is why optical illusions work) We also have other things to consider like how accurate are the nominal colour temperatures of these lights and such stuff but that seems like too much hassle to deal with here.

    Lecture over.

Simple answer: If you really don't like the blue tinge (Good call, I don't either) then, yes, you probably don't want to go much over 4300K
