Hi guys... today the car was driving like poo but only between 2.5K and 3K rpm. What do i mean........ Well it held revs but engine had a rough low tone, almost as if it was reving lower, but it wasn't It cleared up but yeah... wtf? Note: I know ive got at least 1 dodge O2 sensor, which is soon to be replaced.
na not at WOT.. in fact the oposite... if i pushed more on the throttle, it came good.... thats why i thought it might be linked to O2 sensor While it seemed to be linked to rpm....it could have been linked to throttle possition..... Fuel filter... dont know? But like i said, give it some guts and it all came good. Its almost like it was turbo lag from hell... only.... worse...and when already moving
Thats what im thinking hey..... I got some off Tom (PZP) and was going to wait till after christmas for the install, but now gonna see if he can fit it in before, and include a throttlebody clean and service for good measure Come on Tom... extra christmas spending money for ya :zlove:
Sounds like a leak on the intake side! Mine did exactly this when the hose between the afm and throttle body was loose, worth having a look at, Mattb
My zed has also been doing this for some time.. It's an NA auto if that helps..but I know my O2 sensors are right and I dont have any error codes?!??... As you stated more throttle helps..or letting off and putting back on I think also helps.. Still dont know whats causing it..but I dont have an intake leak
When was your throttlebody cleaned last out of interest? Coz im wondering if thats a factor also, so gonna get mine cleaned just to eliminate it
Just had a look around to check intake pipes. All looks ok and feels tight but POD filter is filthy as hell, so will replace that. Will try and just bang it out for now. Also fired her up and still doing it, even with no load. I still reakon, change O2's and do a service and throttlebody clean and she'll be right, but no harm changing things like POD etc while im at it i guess. Might hide the bill from the wife till after christmas
Well my throttle bodies are clean and ive got a new pod on..and it's still doing it, still got no idea..
sounds the same as the problem i've been having. Had my mechanic fix the wiring to the detonation sensor cos i had that error code. And he also cleaned various connectors etc. It stopped for a bit but now it's back again. And only when the car is warmed up i've determined. So when i get a chance gonna put my new o2's in and see what happens.
I've declaired mine undrivable now Its getting MUCH worse. Pretty much you have to rev to over 3K via a nice hard stab and then engage gear, so ive told the wife she doesn't have a car at the mo, and im stealing her excel. Scared something is VERY wrong Can someone send the Bat Signal to Tom @ PZP... im having trouble getting hold of him
Did you replace the fuel filter yet? Maybe some injector cleaner could help. If your air filter is dirty then that wouldn't be helping either. I'm just trying to think of easy stuff first which can cause those symptoms.
Fuel filter... no Air filter will replace for sure. Injector cleaner.... im noob lol. I'd need help with that one, or get workshop to do. Also borrowing mates Laptop with data cable and ECU Talk and datascan asap, so will post codes if any. Hate it when car is sick..... it's like part of you isn't feeling right
I've had success using STP fuel injector cleaner before, you just put it in your fuel tank with a full tank of petrol. I'm not saying this is definately the cause, but blocked injectors can certainly cause this kind of thing.
Cheers bro. Guess it wouldn't hurt to limp it to the BP 2 mins from my house, top her up, and throw some in... then let idle in the garage for a few hours lol. I really dont want to drive it. IN the rev range descriped it just pulls back, like its out of time or something (im noob but Im guessing its what bad timing would feel like) I have just ripped off the POD and given it a good bashing to get off excess crap. No not as good as replacing but just wanted to see if it made ANY diference... it didn't. Also testing in the garage i can explain a little better what it occuring.... 1) Idle is 100% fine. Purs away happily 2) Slight presure on the throttle = hesitation and drop in revs which i know is my O2's 3) Little more pressure and she's fine. 4) get to around 2 - 2.5K's, slowley applying pressure and thats when she's unhappy 5) Slowley apply more pressue on the throttle and REVS DONT CLIMB.... its lie she's stuck at 2.5k's rpm 6) keep allpying pressure and she eventually rises to just above 3 and then comes happy and comes alive 7) soon after, boost kicks in and everything is fine.
AFM Air Flow Meter could be faulty. Try swapping with another good one or at least clean AFM connector and check for any obstruction(s) to the hot wire. Still sounds like O2's not working if symptom doesn't occur @ WOT.
