Went down to calder tonight to see what my car "official" runs the 1/4. Its the first time i have ever been to a drag strip and after the 3 hour drive to get to Calder i finally took my zed out to race my workmates Escort v8.

He got 13.579 and i got 13.811, not bad i thought considering it was my 1st ever run.

Ok 2nd run was against Chris's(rom-vg30dett) yellow TT zed. This was such a great race, very close all the way(neck and neck pretty much) but i won with 13.763 and he got 13.886. A difference of 0.123.

The 3rd race was a funny one as it was against some van. I was not ready at all and i bogged down majorily causing the van to get to an early lead(my 60' time was 2.966) but thank god for the Twin Turbo's boost i ended up winning it with a time of 14.386 to the vans time of 16.801. I even have a video clip of the race, it looks awesome.

The final race was again against Chris. The red vs yellow 300zx TTs. Again it was a very close race, i actually thought that Chris won but the results(again very close) saw Chris with 13.734 and me with 13.633 a difference of 0.101.

It was so much fun that i am planning to go again in a few weeks once i get a few more mods added.
There was also so many quick cars there aswell, 1 car ran a 8.9 from memory.
My workmate ended up running a 12.9 on his last race so i will be hearing all about this week at work.

But such a great night:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: with plenty more to come. Once i scan them tomorrow i will post them up and also send them to Risk, looking at the Australia 300zx Top 10 list i jump into 11th spot and Chris jumps into 13th.

    Max:thumbsup:

So glad you were able to do justice to the Zed fraternity, and had fun doing it. I'm only sorry I couldn't make it out there to give some support!

    Cheers,

    Congrats Max,

OK, so you're ahead of me on the list now. See you out there in a couple of weeks! Those times are about what I reckoned you'd get, yes? Did Calder have new timing readout boards for the spectators???

It's quite possible that Chris did win with a slower time. This is where reaction time counts for something. If you ran 13.633, and had a reaction time of 0.8 seconds, thats a total of 14.433. If Chris ran a 13.734 with a 0.6 reaction time, then that's a total of 14.334, and he would have got there first. Reaction time is shown as R/T on your slip. Down the bottom of the slip it will say which lane came 1st, left or right, and by how much.

If you ever go to an actual elimination race meet, the target is to go as close to 0.4 as you can - anything faster and you've redlighted. Reaction time can win you a race!

How much fun is it Max! Thats a great time. Have to see what I can do about gettin my spot back. Don't think it will be for a while, found out yesterday that my baby isn't as healthy as I thought.Compression test showed 2 pots way low:( (rings)and on the Dyno she has lost considerably. Not happy.

I think i actually saw a yellow Z behind me when i left

chapel st last night, he beeped but i didn't see who it was as i turned off infront of him. He had numbers on the side so he was at calder.. I was in the silver Z with the white n silver rims.

    Nice work though max!

    I had a great time

since I was only expecting to get low 14's. I was totally wrapped with my time and I cant wait to go and do some more runs in a few weeks.

Max, we gotta really work out our reaction times. maybe with good R/T's we can get low 13's????

You got it in one Max, you had the quicker 1/4 mile time but.......

really, rom-vg30dett won the drag race because he crossed the line first because of your slow reaction time.

Reaction time isn't counted in the 1/4 mile run!

It just decides who wins when going head to head.

What terminal speed were you getting?

    What 60ft time too?

The biggest time lost is in the first 60ft. When I did my 12.7 @ 110mph, that was done with a 1.8sec 60ft time. Best 60ft time I've done is 1.7sec.

Get the launch right, ie, no wheel spin and no bogging down, after that, get good clean gear shifts and you're home and hose.
