And DZS needs some more practise at engine R/R If Ben's like me, I run a lower boost around town, else I can't keep the rear rubber on the ground. My build is forged though
That's right Greg. And as i said in my original post, i won't be running that high boost through it very much at all, because i love my Zed so much. I did of course want to get big boost through it on the dyno to see it's potential in its current state (like anyone would). I'm quite aware of "melting" chances with big HP on non-forged engines, as i've done as much research on this as anyone has, and i will be avoiding this at all cost!
and most of those guys engines are still sitting in the garage 4 years later as he stated, hes not running that on a regular basis,so on that point its a perfect build for him and any others who are not street racers
Thats less than 2 years later si, (check the build post) and it'll be running before new years, at 350rwkw if i wanted it to, without the fear and loathing
How can you tell baz? Street racer, LOL I'm the guy who got pulled over for holding up traffic, on the eastern.
Too true If the Blue Beast karks it a new ~$1500 2nd hand motor can be swapped over ... DZS to rescue + 17 pizza's @ $7 ea + Teddies on Mastercard ... easy and cheap solution :zlove:
Bang for buck is great, but what happens when that stock motor spits a piston or rod and destroys the new turbos, fills the coolers with shrapnel and does countless other nasties to everything else around it. Bang for buck, it is good if Benny is a nice boy with his throttle. My personal opinion is that is too far on a stock motor. Keep the boost down Benny like you say you will and you will be OK.
healthy stock bottom end is fine at 300rwkw . pistons arent that weak. a blown piston just means lack of a good tune
.. lol, beav ... i was merely hinting that it is about time that SIMON (alias Kathy) resolves his gender confusion ... ... the poor bloody newbies do not know who they are talking to ... lol ...!!!
Engine was desiged to put out ~225KW at flywheel = approx 180KW ATW so yes, no doubt there is a healthy safety margin built in but I'd second DZR400Y's caution. Nearly doubling power output will undoubtedly increase wear on ~20 year old stock internals but if Benny is careful (and he is) he should have a good run :zlove:. Make no mistake. I'll all for maxing out available horsepower, but as long as the associated risks are factored into the equation. Benny has researched this area extensively, so he knows what's-what. I'm more concerned that a newbie saw those results and tried to replicate Benny's setup without understanding the pitfalls.
Wow, those numbers are awesome. Also very encouraging. I have very similar mods, just needing injectors, turbos (will be hypergear too), and a tune. I was hoping to make over 300 rwkw's, and you've demonstrated that it can be done on bolt ons only. Congratulations and well done.
hey benny have a Q did you fit the turbo's yourself? Just wondering if you did anything to the intake where the triangle elbow bolts to the turbo mine doesn't line up real good.
