    Thanks dude.

I have my idle set pretty decently now just by messing with the screw, but I'll check that plug.

Installing all the air guides has gotten me back to the temp I was with the old front bar. Will whack a new clutch fan on at some stage in the near future.

    Gauge installation

Spent the last week or two putting in my Z center "350z style" gauge holder. Pain in the arse of a job. [IMG] though.

Starts here, cutting out the dash according to the A4 template supplied with the holder:

Below the dash hole is an air conditioning duct that fouled on the holder. The plan for the best possible result was to have the holder sitting perfectly without applying force before it was glued, so it had to go. I cut out a large section and patched the hole with a section of rubber sheet from Clark Rubber.

I ran the lines for the mechanical VeilSide gauges through a bespoke hole in the shifter support bracket, around the top of the gearbox and starter motor to teh sandwich plate. Worked a treat, and was easily able to maintain a minimum of 4" clearance from the exhaust pipes.

It really is a pain to get this holder to fit perfectly. To anyone that says they fit badly - what I say to you is to blame the person that fitted it. After many hours of cutting with the soldering iron I'm very happy with how mine fitted. Place, pull, cut, place, pull, cut, place, pull, cut...

While I was there I also replaced my bodgey cluster and the passenger side pod holder, which is nice

A whole lot of fully sikaflex later and here we are. I used two big C-clamps at the front, and jammed a pool noodle (yup!) in at the back. I left them overnight and cleaned up a lot of excess glue from around the place today. Still some remaining in these photos.

Might get some better photos of the gauges when it's light.

Looks very smart, nice work yet again. Defo interested to see some more pics and what do you think of the angle the gauges face from the driving position?

I want to angle my gauges, I'm sick of them facing straight and being in the middle of the car.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. It was worth spending a whole week getting it right.

Took my car out today. First time in three months or so. And I really mean took it out, a solid 45 minute drive, not just around the block to check for scrubbing.

    - New spacers
    - Battery relocation
    - Nistune
    - New injectors
    - Twin feed fuel rail
    - Powertrix coilovers
    - VeilSide gauges
    - New cluster
    - Esctort bonnet
    - Driven Authority wing
    - Sound system
    - More wire tucking
    - New IACV connector
    - Bled brakes
    - PCV delete

Plus probably a few more, since it's last been driven. Ran like clockwork.

    Nistune, socketed ECU, whatever :p

The coilovers feel like a million bucks Dean. Much smoother ride than my HA's. I've got them set to max soft right now and they ride great. A set of new boots are on order from Powertrix, arriving with some rear sway bar end links next week hopefully.

low low low low low low low

Today I spent my morning at Castle Hill Exhaust. They fitted my UAS center resonator a few months ago and while there measured up what sort of ground clearance could be achieved with some exhaust remodeling. This morning the TuneAgent front pipes went in the bin and in their place are bolted a custom pair of 2.5" polution irrigators. They are tucked well up higher than the old TuneAgent pipes (really bad design) and now hang approximately in line with the chassis rails :)

Remaking the front pipes allowed for the rear of the exhaust to be raised considerably, about another two inches. As is, the UAS resonator hung so low to the road that over potholes or dips, anything more than one or two centimeters of suspension travel sent sparks out.

New pipes done. I had a pair of oval cats to be fitted in stead of my current 5" rounds, but unfortunately their combined 12" width didn't fit. Old cats are on there currently, I might swap them out for some 100 CPSI 4" rounds for th extra 12.5mm or so in the center.

Went over three speed bumps on the way home and no scraping!

see that drip of oil on your oil filter there? thats coming from your sandwich plate for your oil pressure, temp sender. that drip will in turn cover a big chunk of your car in oil, including the starter motor. mine was pretty bad before i realised and yeah.... oil blowback sucks.

did the new pipes end up significantly closer to the gearbox. if so, maybe some heat shields would be in order.....

Well spotted dude! I sure do, I knew the installation had created an oil leak somewhere and as soon as the car was on the lift that's straight where I went to to check it out. It's coming from the oil temperature sensor, pretty sure I know why to. Something about me doing the install with Permatex Black then giving it approximately no time at all to set before cranking the car up :p

Closer yes, but I wouldn't call it close enough to call a problem. I was more concerned about transferring heat to the underside of the body, so if that transpires to be an issue I'll get under there with a roll of Reflect-A-Gold and go berzerk.

Went to my first decent wheel aligners today. I made a thread on JDMST about how every alignment I've ever gotten has been shit house. It was flooded with responses over night, but among the horror stories there were a few recommendations.

Spinning Wheels in Waterloo were able to fit me in on short notice. Decent 45 minutes away, but boy was I impressed with the place. Big, open and very well kept shop. They had some form of ~1930's single seat delivery truck in for some work, along with a GT set up old yank tank and rally Audi. While I was there a 650 AWHP R36 TT converted R32 Golf dropped by for a top up of Nitrogen.

Sorry for the phone photos. I had the rear tyres inverted and a wheel alignment at the front. Unfortunately my suspicions were confirmed, we found significant play in the passenger side inner HICAS ball joint. As a result there wasn't much reason to align the rear, so I'll swap out the inners with some new OEM tie rods before coming back.

I've got two pairs of adjustable sway bar end links on order from Powertrix (along with some new coilover boots) that I'll be fitting up within the next month along with replacement sway bar bushings front and rear. While I'm doing the inner ball joint replacement I'll probably convert the outer HICAS joints to bushings sooner than planned to save on another alignment.

Currently sitting on 4* camber front, 5* rear. The back will be getting raised 5mm or so in an attempt to somewhat remedy this, might mean some more guard work to try and get it down to at least 4*. That camber on the rear is just way too much, waiting on the sway bar end links to cosmetically even the height out first though. Front tyres are also completely cactus but I'm far too broke to replace them haha.

Still need to sort out some scrubbing issues on the front, ahh... I need sponsorship...
