Hi guys, well I work for Auspost and depending on the product, as much as it hurts, successful delivery is considered getting the item to the address on the parcel. If either registered post international or Express Courier International was used then yes signature should be obtained on delivery to anyone at that address. Basically if you say send it cheap, then usually no signature required, just to get it to the address. Sooo many go missing I assure you. I just did a quick check on UPS and there are optional extras to get signature.. did they choose that option?
In principal you are very right, and I agree wholeheartedly, however in practice there really is no other option than to try and be as co-operative with the delivery company as much as possible. Legal action is an idle threat to a company that considers 100 million in profit a slow financial year. I get a customer complaint at least once a week, from "my mail is wet", to "the postie yelled at my dog when it tried to bite him, fire him!". Going in guns a blazing will get you ignored, the delivery guy will be told "be careful next time", the complaint will vanish into the filing system and it'll end there. If you work politely with management, in most instances they'll bend over backwards to accomodate you and he'll get a lot further in tracking it down. Management sit behind desks all day copping crap from idiotic customers (and some of it really is just mind numbingly stupid) and insubordinate delivery staff, a sympathetic ear and a pleasant conversation is rare, and they'll be more than happy to have a reason to run around making internal calls.
so here's the update guys. my mate calls me around 3 this arvo, I'm a rather exhausted tone. he and a few other blokes had for the lols, been trolling around where the bar went missing, and finally we hit a break! two 20 year ok kids, carrying an 'escort' box out of a ute and behind their fence. I bailed out of the house, flew down there and there was a group of about 15 of us out the front. first instinct was to go and belt the guys but, this would land me in trouble so we decided to hold fort and call the polce, turns out 5 minutes later what looked like half of Victoria police showed up. the kids played dumb saying the box wasn't there, until we pointed out the box. they denied it but after a bit of persuasion they admitted Seeing the unguarded box and picking it up. pressed charges against the retards. which include trespassing, theft etc etc. all in all, I'm glad to have the bar back. the courier has ALOT of answering to do, thanks everyone for the help!

Yeah exactly, wtf? See an unknown box with no idea what's inside and just steal it? Fkn lowlifes. While it would have been sooooooooooooooo tempting to rush in there and bust some heads, good thing (in the long term) that you didn't, good to see the cops arrived in a timely manner! Press charges for sure, a stern look isn't going to be enough for them, hopefully the fine and threat of jail time (not that it will happen, of course) might make them think twice next time, you may save somebody your same frustration and anger in the future. Good on ya mates for what they did and keep pressing on the courier company, they need to be informed they are VERY lucky and need to fix up their delivery system pronto.
still can't believe it myself to be honest tim! yeah been on the Piss half the day haha! the police said at minimum a 2k fine but depends on the judge, could even be jail time. yeah it's retarded Kirill, when they got asked, they had apparently been following the ups truck and taken more than one package. wtf? yeah no point marking my name, but 200% will be paying them a visit In the not too distant future! yep, agreed man, will be interesting to see what they do/say.
