the S looks fine in person and there is no evidence of ANY fake HKS turbo's on the net, but most other HKS stuff has been copied

I have figured out what they are, just waiting for chrispy to catch up. I have just given him some good clues. Hold on a few minutes anton and I will spill the beans.

thought you might be the man to figure it out.

are they bb 300zx core replacements with the HKS wheels in a hks housing?

Nope, not even z32. Although the number on the tag suggests otherwise, they have been rebuilt/repaired using z32 bearing housings only, still have all the other HKS bits in there.

considering they have minimal play is it possible to replace the oil seal on the compressor sides?

they were from a skyline, I assumed GTR?

They are early 2510 journal bearings turbos. Not GT2510. Very similar to the T25G from garret but with the same sort of things like they did to the Disco potatoe to get a 2530.

Early upgrade for a SR20 or CA18 silvia.

You wont know if they are rebuilable until they are stripped and inspected. Send them over to me and I will rebuild them if possible, should be around $800 for the pair if they measure ok.

    AWESOME work eric :D

however they have a restrictor in the oil inlet which would make them ball bearing right? which would also make them uneconomically expensive to rebuild?

That isn't the restrictor, that is the mating surface for the flare of the feed line to seal on.

    oh, whoops,
does it just use the normal garrett 360* thrust bearing rebuild kit for t25/8 etc?

Yes they do, but they might be dynamic seals not ring type on the compressor side.

I'm all out of thanks for today :D

do you use garrett rebuild kits or the generic ebay style ones? much difference?

  16. a2zed

    a2zed Guest

Garret only, never used an ebay kit so can't really comment on them. Considering it takes a bit of effort to get the turbos off, I wouldn't like to do it because I skimped a few dollars on unkwown parts.
