Not sure if anyone can even tell from these pics but are they stock turbo's? Also are the manifolds stock? I've just bought the old MRTT, which had HKS 25/30's and after a few thousand km's she (the old owner) took it to a mechanic who said she needed to change the turbo's :bash: now i'm trying to work out if the mechanic shafted her by replacing the HKS turbo's with OEM's or if he shafted her by not replacing them at all and still getting paid (old turbo's were not given back to her after the work was done)
actually, looking the the tiny exhaust housings and butchered dump it's going to be a stock turbo. can anyone tell if they are auto or manual turbo's?
Dumps are 5 bolt so definately not stock. It may still have the 2530's. Manifolds look stock but could be ported.
Yes, HKS cast into the compressor cover and also the dump. Can you see any tags on the chra at all, usually you can see the passenger side by looking from the top. If they are not HKS, they maybe T25G from an S13.
hks turbos have the hks cast logo, also come stock with dual port actuators and you cant use stock oil feed lines (yours have them ) they could be stock turbos with upgraded core and new exhaust housing 5 bolt spec. here are some pics of my bad boys
I couldn't see any tags or castings. Looks like I'm going to have to pull the engine and find out whats there. can S15 turbo's use the stock lines? are s13 turbo's an upgrade?
2560r turbos are a small upgrade by the looks of them they are well and trully knackered. engine pull iminent !!
the oil didn't come from them i don't think, I'll give it a degrease and see if I can get it to start before pulling the engine cheers for the insight guys
Yes because oil on the turbo housings definitely indicated a knackered turbo... lol simmo, u know better than that mate. Or is it that you just like to convince everyone to take their engine out?
LMAO, I resisted the urge to post on that...............evidently Tom couldnt! PMSL! Dear oh dear!!!! (Flame suit already on) l8r E
They are HKS turbo's!! doing the second plenum pull today I was able to shine a torch down and see that the compressor housing say HKS on it! So happy
I'm sorry, I dont understand why oil on the turbo casing is an indication of a knackered turbo? Wouldn't a cam cover gasket leaking give the same indication?
haha, but he also likes convincing everyone to get 28R's or 25/30's....even if they already have them?
