If your under 25 dont bother with shannons

Go straight for Just cars  It cost me $1850 per year when I was 19 for my 300zx TT manual, it was $1705 for my 95 Supra TT 6spd at 20 years old, when it was written off it took them 2 weeks from the accident to recieve a full pay out of $36K (now hows that for quick).

And they now insure my Corvette Stingray For $1500 per year now im 21, I wouldent be with anyone else

    Hey Rohan-

I recently got insured and shopped around relentlessly. Young and cool were the best quote by far... followed by Just Car.

If you have any questions let me know!

    Cheers

    Not really

Just cars is a different devision, its underwritten by AAMI, which is a good thing, basically it has a big company backing it, so you know that the company wont go bankrupt if you try make a claim :p

The problem with young and cool is

They are so uptight its not funny, If you look at their rules and conditions of insurance they barely want to give anyone insurance, from the looks of it there are sooooo many clauses they have written themselves, so when you have an accident there will be some technicality they can get out of paying you with.

This is directly from their site:....

    You must:......

Have had no major modifications done to the car
Have your sound system covered for a maximum of $1,000
Have your wheels and tires covered to a maximum of $1,000
Give a realistic value for your car
Keep your car off street at night at your home address
Have an immobiliser fitted that meets our standards
Not use the car for your work
Name all drivers - one must be 30 or under, at inception of the policy
If you have a turbocharged or V8 car, any driver will have to have at least a 20% No Claims Bonus or Insurance Rating 5
If you have a bad driving history, sorry we can't help you
We are unable to offer cover on Holden HSV, highly modified cars or cars valued over $40,000

Thats a lot of Can'ts and wonts to me  A bit different to just cars Unlimited Modification amount, and policy to insure anyone no matter the history.

    Be very careful

Interesting that you say this, Zac

AAMI was formed back in the early '70s as a result of the insurance company "crash" back then, when all the small companies which were just about bankrupted formed the conglomerate we know and love today as AAMI. I remember this quite well because I was insured at the time by one of the "small" companies.

You learn something new every day :p

I can't vouch too much for the 70's, not being born till 83 and all :p How have you been man? long time no speak, Ill be around more often now im part of the Z clan again :zlove:

At least they are a massive company today, I dont know if they are australian owned or not (are they?) but I feel pretty safe knowing they are my insurer, and I certainly can't argue with the 2 week payout time, they have delivered on every promise to date, and their policies are very relaxed compared to some, sometimes they may not be the cheapest but they sure are the best..

Heheh queue the music... Luckyyyyy your with AAMI :p

Just Cars is expensive and good for stock cars

almost $5000 for a stock NA, (then over $5000 for 2nd year as had a few mods. Still NA and 20% off being R5)

And no matter how much I modify it, the price they cover it for is based almost on a stock example.

The excess for claims is also stupid. Lets say I wanted to insure my car right now with them, 3 years driving no accidents, flawless driving record, would cost me almost $3000. Should I need to make a claim, I got quoted an excess of nearly the same amount.

They also say 'we dont judge or discriminate' which is bullcrap. If your a male, you pay more, and if your under 25, you pay a hell of lot more. Why ask for driving history as well then? hehe. They also say they understand our cars and are car enthuisiasts etc, butdont cover the car for much at all (no agreed value policy).

I think Shannons would be the way to go. I heard somewhere that they can insure under 25's now?

Tektrader Z32 Hoe, service me baby

    Shannons are dick heads

I am 44, have rating one, an NA zed that lives in a car port, It has a imobilizer and am a member of Aus300zx car club.

They wont insure me cause you can see the car from the street!

Now you tell me what pack of morons could write a policy that has that as a condition?

My curent insurance is $680 P.A. comprehensive with $980 excess. From Budget Direct insurance in Queensland.

Who are Shannons kidding. They dont support enthusiasts at all, they are wankers IMHO.

    insurance always seems too high

i'm 19 nearly 20 and i got quoted $3500 from just car and $5000 from young and kool.
what a waste of time. it is not worth me even getting full comp because i'll pay the price of the car in 3 years paying that amount.
how do all you people get such cheap quotes. my car has mainly body mods an exauhst and pod filter.
