ahh god dammit! in the end the person is like sorry not taking 1500, she told me yesterday 1700 so i said i can come down now and get it. then all of a sudden its gone back up to 2500 :/ so im not risking that much on possibly a major problem. one day ill have a manual!
by the info i have told you guys and the after market exhaust, wheels geabox etc etc i have said, what would you guys think is a decent price? also the body does need a repaint but is quite straight, also has three months rego.
to be honest..... no. the only exception would be if you have the parts available to pretty much replace whatever is wrong at minimal cost. (read that as $0 or as close as possible). If you are lucky its just the engine consumables needs replacing, is sparkplugs fuel filter blah blah, then maybe if not quite so lucky the engine itself, but considering the lack of real info and the condition of the paint I would imagine none of the suspension bushes are that good, chances are the centre bearing on the D/shaft needs replacing and the list can go on and on. I would steer clear at anything over your mentioned 1700 and event that would be pushing my limit for this car.
A single 3" exhaust on an NA will kill the low end performance (ie sluggish) and only help with top end. I know because I have driven such myself.
just spoke to this lady's partner he wasnt happy with her selling it for $1500 so the lowest he will go is now $2200. so for that i dont think its for me.
Going to go have another look at this zed tonight. They want 2200, I really want a manual one. This is the cheapest I can find. Got any suggestions of what I should have a closer look at this time? Cheers Justin
Wouldn't waste money trying to buy an NA for so cheap. You just know you'll end up spending a lot to get it up to scratch.
Yeah it's $2000 :/ All the manual good ones are still going for a fair bit of money. If this one is a easy fix all good, but if not I'm sure all the parts would add up to the purchase price. And thought it would be a good project for me. I already got a nice zed I drive now. Just a all stock auto.
You were prepared to spend 1700 on it, now they want 2000. Go for it. What's another 300. If it turns out to be a lemon you can still get your money back on parting it. If it turns out the cure is an easy one you've got a nice car for 2000 bucks. If you miss out you'll always wonder if you should have bought it and will never know if you missed out on a bargain. Good luck.
bought the car, goes pretty good actually not heaps sluggish like i thought! with the double throttle boddies. it only has one cable on it? im pretty sure my other zed has the two cables. can someone tell me what the missing cable does. thanks
oh no probs. does anyone know whats different with the fairlady modle? i think this might be one but not 100% sure
also, there is a fair amount of heat coming from the centre consol bit. makes the car so hot. its pretty much right above the gearbox is that normal?
was also maybe thinking of, taking the 5 speed out of this new one and put it in my other 1990 zed. my other one is in very good condition just all stock auto. nothing touched. hmm is it a big job?
they are all fairladys. they can be called the following fairlady (japan) z32 300zx (australia + everywhere else) 300z (america) all are correct, and all are the same car the fairlady badging on yours just confirms that its a import.
If you need to ask if a manual conversion is a "big job" then I've one word...YES!!! I know you are budget conscious and subsequently wouldnt recommend attempting it as a DIY.
