Found these and thought I'd share. Given the current strength of the Aussie dollar, it might be worth considering if you don't feel comfortable making a sealed MDF sub box that fits well in the boot. 2+2 enclosure for 2 X 10" subs - $159.99 excl. postage http://cgi.ebay.com/ZEnclosures-300...930?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f73c946a 2+2 enclosure for 1 X 10" sub - US$79.99 excl. postage http://cgi.ebay.com/ZEnclosures-300...836?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588b658f14 The listings say shipping to US and Canada only but I contacted them out of curiosity (I don't actually need one) and they will ship worldwide - You just need to get a quote from them before you buy. Hope it helps.
Was gonna get these exact ones for my 2+2 from the same place - shipping to Aus - USPS Air I was quoted.................you ready for it? $800+ - serious. Or you can buy my 2+2 set up available in the for sale section. I'm also considering making up something that's almost identical to these ones & selling here in Australia only for the 2+2's.
Nice find Cliff. I like the enclosures but shipping is a killer. The yanks are currently trying to rip us off on postage on most products. I have been looking at a few Z32 products but they are double the price with postage. Good buying power through the UK at the moment and low postage.
Please do! There've been a few people talking about this and they've had huge EOI's, but it's never happened. If you do, alter that design IMO. There's no need for the box to extend all the way to the back seat like that. It's just taking up space.
The tricky & important part is geting a snug tight fit around the lines of the hatch & rear speaker towers - I've got the template. As stated there's been alot of talk / threads about some member "wanting" to make them but no-one's actually gotten around to doing it. The interest is definitely there though. I've got alot of experience with power tools & helped my dad make kitchen cabinets/ display stands/ furniture etc when I was a kid, as my father was a carpenter. I'm going to make it priority to make a set very smiliar to the ZENCLOSURES ones within the next fortnight & report back with pics/ experience/ difficulty making em. THEN! only if the quality is top notch - I might consider making & selling them. Will get some Sydney members to scrutinize the end product.
Z I still plan to. I have been held up with the flooded zed restoration. I had to get Aza's car out of my workshop first. It gets picked up tonight so I can get onto these sub boxes soon.
Sounds great, and I'll be happy to offer my services since I want this so bad DO WANT if they're being made out of MDF the a flat packing idea wouldn't go astray and could open up a new market, especially considering how much the yanks wanted for postage...
The race is on!! Just got off the phone getting quotes for MDF panels & got a connection at spotlight for the box covering material.
Ive already got some (very similar) to above style made up for a 2+0.. took me a bit.. and altering.. still not completely happy with them.. not sure for a 2+2 but ..
I too was considering making something up, but I have different wants to others - maybe. Specifically I want a kind of trapdoor that opens up to reveal the spare tyre, and I also want to still store the tools and targa covers somewhere. On top of that I still want to put two targa's in there when I take the top off (quite often). Then of course I have to also put the Amp somewhere. If I can do all that then I will be happy to move from non-stock.
No race. If you can get a finished product with a price to us in a fortnight its all yours. I am tied up with the kamakazi skirts, infills and front lips for now.
Your description here Vader is pretty much exactly what i have... hinged trap doors for access to spare tyre/tools and air compressor (2+0) ... houses 10" subs .. can fit 12 with some modifications but i think dual 10's do a job perfectly.. (fits targa's too)
