Mark...my wife had it towed to another mechanic, the first guys told her the valves would definitely be bent...but they didn't do any testing on it, just saw the pulleys, and the belt (belt lost some teeth) and said 'forget about it'. They really didn't want to do anything with it, told her to save the money on a new motor and just "get rid of it".
Second mechanic got my wife to send around the full timing kit from work and replaced all pulleys, seals and the belt, started it up and it had no problems...no rough spots, quiet & smooth idle again. They just have to finish putting all the front end pieces back together, because the first guys just shoved everything in the boot thinking that was it
It hasn't had a 100k service, it's only got 60+K on it. We've just had basic things serviced on it regularly...oil & filter, fuel filter, plugs etc.

I have receipts for the aircon and gearbox work, and now the timing kit too.
Total cost hasn't been 'worked out' just yet...the guys doing the work will do a good price for my wife, and she bought the kit through work at her staff price (she got it quite a bit cheaper than the retail price!)



Addiction...great car, but am after dualcab ute. Thanks anyways.
