I'm on board with this. You take your power seriously start with displacement. Not to mention the massive weight saving going to an alloy block LS. Single cams may be what the cave men drove around with but they give a lower center of gravity too.

Call me old fashioned but I'd be more impressed if it fitted under the bonnet and ran a proper exhaust.
Makes two of us -I really don't understand the fascination with that car.... This one makes more power (over 1000hp at the wheels) and actually looks like a Z. Far more impressive.
It's not fascination....... It's an example of a Z32 with a horsepower figure similar to the topic. It is also the car actually running on the road using the HP. Is there a video link to the 1000+HP Z32?
I agree too, but the fascination with that car lies with the theater of its execution. Like lining up to see the one eyed man at a circus.
Ha you're looking at it all wrong -you wouldn't want full boost down low on a motor like that it'd never stay in a straight line. Look at the way it breaks traction at the top of fourth gear... Put it this way that "laggy" motor is making more power at 5200rpm than a "properly setup VG" with GT28RS makes at 7000rpm
:agree: Yup ... those who want their Turbo's to be making boost immediately aren't making enough POWER But seriously, driving a car making a lot of power down low is fun for a while ... then it does get to be a pain and it's SLOW, I mean, how you be fast if you can't use full throttle past 5k in the 1st 3 gears.
This. I'm not saying it cant be done with the old VG but you cant beat cubes for making 4 figures, especially if you want some value for money. VH41 with Franklin 290 deg cams and head studs/MLS gasket, E85, fuel system and a GT45 would have to go close to those figures and be a little more interesting than an LS. LS still owns for cubes and boostability though.
Not quite 1000hp but these guys did a LS3 into a 240SX and even with all the other bits like bigger brakes etc only added about 100lb. Given the big boost in torque and power, much better brakes etc it's not a bad swap all things considered. And it's NA so can only go up with some boost. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL4kIk8mXSk
