I heard a radio short about a crash in Melbourne this morning, which involved a sports car with 6 people cramed in it! two people were killed :(

In another report I heard that it WAS a 300zx!!! and all six passengers were female...how they managed to get 6 people into a 300zx even if it was a 2+2 like mine is unbelievable! It is thought that they were going roughly twice the speed limit of 70kmph, and slid for roughly 80m before crashing!!

This is terrible news for anyone, and its yet ANOTHER reminded to be responsible behind the wheel!!!! This is the third 300zx accident I've heard about this week!!! The accident was in North Caufield...

Prayers and condolences go out to the familys of those involved!

Terrible, and yet more fuel for the restrictions argument. 6 people...even amputeed midgits would be a squeeze. Why would anyone want to drive at twice the posted speed limit in a 70 zone is beyond me...thoughts go out to everyone involved.

Channel 10 did a big story on it which showed a white NA on its side against a tree with its roof caved in. Im not sure if there were six people in it, channel 7 said there were 4 people in it. What they both said was it was a girls night out and two 22 yo women died, one on impact the other at hospital. On seeing the ch10 story, I noticed the car may not have been going as fast as they said, the cars roof was crushed in but the rest of the car was otherwise still straight.

    Melbourne crash

A GIRLS' night out ended in the deaths of two young women after another high-speed horror road smash.
Twenty-two people have been killed in the past 14 days on Victoria's roads.
Twelve people have died in the past week alone.
In yesterday's crash, a sports car carrying six friends careered out of control at 140km/h on Dandenong Rd, Caulfield North, before smashing into a tree and landing on a brick fence.
It is believed the women, all from Melbourne's southeastern suburbs, were partying at bars in Chapel St before the crash about 3.30am.
Four of them are believed to have been friends from Mt Waverley Secondary College.
Lirjeta Sulemani, 18, from Dandenong South, was killed. Her sister Lumjetta, 22, crawled from the mangled wreck and was in a serious condition in the Alfred hospital.
A 22-year-old woman from Noble Park died in the Alfred from head injuries.
Maria Makridakis, 21, who was driving the 1989 Nissan 300ZX, was in the Royal Melbourne with an injured hand.
Her identical twin sister Yvonne was allowed to go home after being treated for minor injuries.
Constance Valiontis, 21, was in a serious condition in the Royal Melbourne with a broken hip and internal injuries.
Family said Maria had no memory of the accident and Yvonne was too traumatised to speak to police.
They were driving to their Oakleigh home when they decided to do a U-turn on Dandenong Rd and head back towards the city.
The crash happened when the car spun across four city-bound lanes and ran off the road near Wattletree Rd.
Maria's sister Anna said she couldn't understand why the girls drove back towards the city.
"I don't know what happened," Anna said.
"She (Maria) can't remember what happened and my other sister doesn't want to talk about it. She can't talk about it. She's traumatised.
"One of the other girls does not know anyone is dead. She thinks everyone is alive. Her mother doesn't want to tell her."
Anna said not all members of the group had known each other long, but they had recently grown close.
She said the mother of one of the dead girls had phoned Maria.
"The mother of a deceased girl rang my sister and asked about her last minutes. She doesn't blame my sister."
Emergency workers were shocked by the scene. Ambulance officer Ian Hunt said the mangled car was unrecognisable.
He rated it among the worst crashes he had seen in 17 years as a paramedic.
"(We were) really struggling to get people out of the vehicle ... it was a devastating scene to come across," Mr Hunt said.
Dandenong Rd resident Annette Reid was confronted with a devastating scene when she went to investigate a bang and found the car wreck in her front yard.
She called emergency services and tried to comfort the survivors.
Assistant Police Commissioner (Traffic) Noel Ashby said while the car's exact speed would be determined by the major collision investigation unit, there was no doubt it was a significant factor.
"They will be able to work out from the road surface, from the car, the skid marks and the other debris ... what the speed virtually was, and it's very high, very high," he said.
Sgt Brad Peters, of the major collision unit, said police were sick of pulling young people from car wrecks.
"There are some people who just don't heed the warnings. This is the second serious collision I've been to this morning and the day's not over yet.
"On average we lose one Victorian every 24 hours on the roads.
"We're seeing young Victorians between 18 and 25 killing themselves at a far higher rate than any other user group represented on our roads."
Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon said the horror few days on the roads was alarming.
She pleaded with drivers to slow down.
"I hope the community listens to the warnings of the police ? slow down, don't drink and drive, keep your seatbelts on, all those kind of things are all important parts of the process," Ms Nixon said.
The road toll stands at 226, compared with 249 at the same time last year.

    I'm surprised

That you could cram 6 people into a zed for starters, but that ANY of them would survive that kind of crash at that speed! I feel very sorry for the families of those involved. As for the driver and the extra 2 passengers....WTF!?!?!???!

NA's have a good top speed too...It's just takes them longer to get there than it does us snails :p Plus even longer with 6 idiots in it.

Hmm...I think having 2 friends die in that car as a result of her actions is probably punishment enough, I know I won't be speeding on the way home just after reading that article, truely horrifying... (not looking for brownie points there)

Okay here's what I really think... I think they were young, ignorant but in the end inncocent, and certainly deserved less than they got. What do we achieve by making proclamations of their stupidity..two dead is more than enough evidence for that case. So ease up...in the end they were victim to a driver education system which places more emphasis on your ability to parallel park than controlling a one tonne plus hunk of metal at anything more than 80km/h on your L's. It remains a terrible tradgedy and any one with a shred of human decency should not have to be made to feel guilty by some self righteous naysayer ready to point the blame.

The driver was my cousins friends sister. Her sister is one of the ones critically injured, 2 of her friends are dead and two are ok. I think they were doing 140 or 150ks. She had JUST got her license back a few days before hand. If it was 6 17 and 18 year olds, it's understandable, but mid-early 20s?? For none of them to get out of the car, and to be speeding in the first place which would draw attention to yourself when there is so many in the car is just plain stupid. If they weren't straight, if braxy wants to cut our toll, stop ignoring the drug problem :p

Anyhow, lesson learned the hard way for all of them now. A lot need a scare to make them stop being idiots, but sometimes they don't get that chance or just don't learn the first time. If i was the driver, i would rather have died than live knowing what I have done. If she doesn't get jailed for this, our legal system is even more shit than what I once thought it was.

at least i blame the driver, you say not to lay the blame ,your quote is
(It remains a terrible tradgedy and any one with a shred of human decency should not have to be made to feel guilty by some self righteous naysayer ready to point the blame) are you not pointing the blame at the licencing system !,we all went through the same licencing as them and do we do things like cramming 6 people into a car and doing 150kmh,no i dont think so !,thats why we are all still alive, and she will be going to jail, ever heard of manslaughter ?,and by the way,it was not the first time they had their licence, they were in their early to mid 20's im guessing you are around their age

    Remember Zeds

Zeds chop the inside edge of front and rear tyres . Check your tyres regularly.
They always look like they have lots of tread.
We dont want to loose any Zed owners.:zlove: :zlove:
