    I have high flow turbos...

Im definately not arguing against any of this.

Well. I have a 150psi engine sitting in my bay With the plenum off.

    Now what?
im really open to ideas and not opposed to replacing anything necessary from the heads up..

if this was your z and you wanted to get good power from it. What would you do?

Do you have a tuneable ecu? Supporting mods? Start there.

Plenum off now is the easy bit it has been done before.

I have a stock ecu and a chipped ecu.
Will need to get a new tune anyway because of the injectors

is there any chance the turbos were the initial problem causing low power?

Worth pulling them off for a rebuild perhaps?

Costs approx 250 to 350 to have a set of injectors flow tested and cleaned.

Intercoolers and exhaust first. Then tune and boost.

Maybe selin and twin intake too. How far do you want to go?

How old are the turbos? making funny noises or smoking?

Dude, first thing I would do is get what you've got running properly before spending more money on more bits and more frustration.

Start with the basics. Check all connectors. If running factory injectors put a standard ecu back in. Check for boost leaks. Put in some new spark plugs. New fuel filter. Confirm any aftermarket bits have been installed correctly (ie EBC etc). Check timing. Get ECUTALK and confirm all components are displaying expected numbers and check for error codes.

Had the injectors flow tested and serviced twice already...

    Exhaust you say?
How important is a good set of cats? I read bad cats can cause fouling. And something to do with heat build up from unburnt fuel??

Turbos apparently weren't that old. Slight play in one turbo but was told nothing serious.
The engine is pretty clean in regards to smoke.
I saw a cloud of smoke about a week ago come out when I took off from a standing start. Looked white i think. But nothing before or since.
holds water really well and doesnt seem to go through oil.

Oil pressure has been pretty low lately though.

    prepped and ready for surgery...

Can you get a wideband installed. You need to get a solid base going. Throw your stock ecu back in. Get a timing light and get your timing set as per tech section. With oil pressure how are you measuring it?

    Also get nistune

It's rubbish. If it moves it just means that the sender is somewhat working.

    Fair enough..
im just going by what a tuner told me regarding the injectors. I was told its not much point trying to get good figures with stocks..

Doesnt help that soo many people are full of shizenhausen!!

You just need a plan mate.

Work out what you have (established a solid base), get it running right (well) with stock ECU and say 10 or 12 PSI.

Then work on your supporting mods (exhaust and intercooler etc). Then decide what you want to do with injectors and ECU once you are ready to crank it up.

I'm going to give you the best advice you could hear and tell you to take it to a good workshop.

Big PLUS 1 on that, ask the boys in melbourne who is the best person to go and see, over the years i've heard of a couple of guys down there, or even get a few knowledgeable heads together at a tech day, nut out the small issues so it's running right, and as others have said then and only then work out what and where you want to go with your car. No point throwing money at it if the basics still aren't right.

Ive semi started down this path Theo.

Collecting quotes atm for getting the block honed to fit the pistons I have and other quotes for the box and heads.

So far ive been quoted $550 to reco the heads.
Waiting on quotes from the machine shop about the block.

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

Why in blazes do you need to worry about a complete engine freshen up when that engine is in perfectly good health for a S/H used engine.
The distributuion of pressure drop is almost miraculous!!!

The pressure increase you see with some oil in there you will see even with with a brand new engine M8
Rings by their very nature, (UNLESS gapless) will bleed air pressure down past the ring gaps which will be in the vicinity of .012" even when warmed up and given the engine cranks at about 200rpm, the level of bleed past a piston going up and down at 2500 rpm (realistic rpm youll expect useable power). Its frikken negligible.

That insignificant amount of leakdown will have NO affect whatsoever on spooling times lag oreven the length of your erect penis OK?............

Your issue is simply adding a tuned ECU and its not tuned for the setup its being asked to run.
You said yourself the plugs are carboned up black. This tells you what exactly??
Let me guess, the fuel economy was pretty average???
Black smoke from the pipes on boost?

Heres a tip M8, put your STOCK ecu back in with STOCK injectors and ill be willing to be the thing will knock your socks off.

Big injectors dont give any horsepower. They just chuck in MORE fuel for the same opening time right? Its like chucking big jets into the zee olde 350 Holley on ye olde Torana...... NO powah. Just black smoke and crap economy.

Once you go back to bone dead stock and enjoy your toy, THEN you can decide on an expected boost pressure youd like to run and working backwards, you can fit injectors to suit and upgrade the turbos if necessary.
Up to around 12psi, bigger injectors are pointless and a woftam.

THEN you fit your tuneable ECU with a suitable rough tune to suit the new injectors THEN toddle off to your favourite tuner and have the ECU tweaked to bring eveything into line!!

Try not to overthink this stuff M8. Your engine is fine. Your tune is crap. Pretty simple
