'Z' - Dumps on the Dyno..........

    Flow test isn't going to tell you alot about performance under running conditions...

    for the price of 3" vs the 2.5s these days. there really isnt any reason NOT 2 do 3"


    3" 5 bolt sz dumps $570 + Shipping

    SZ 2 ?" 5-Bolt Stainless Steel 475

    why wouldnt u go for the 3"... when the sz dumps were first released they were selling at 895 + shipping!

    are you talking about the ones on sts site that are 690$ delivered?

    edit : so in short, this thread is saying, the bigger the turbo you have the better gain you will get from a bigger dump pipe right? so then putting a 3" dump pipe on a tt zed that has stock turbos would not help much? but it would still help more than a 2.5" dump setup?

    .......all good and OK:) Nothing like a good positive and constructive robust debate:D It has been pointed out to me that I obviously made a HUGE mistake, by not realising that some folks would not know that the AMSzstore Canada, do not have a workshop here in Oz:D I stand very humbly reprimanded;) That's twice I have been in trouble today, and the day aint over yet:eek:

    nooby speaks!! they do make a big difference even on stock turbos. search tt.net

    or how about local member eddie .

    274kws on stock turbos and injectors with dual 3" system and a tune with 14psi ....


    LOCK THIS THREAD STS .. its going nowhere !

    Here's a golden tip to clear up any noob misunderstandings:
    Downstream of a turbo, bigger is better

    if you want to get more technical, then I'll add the following caveat: however large step increases aren't optimal, you want a tapered increase - the purpose of this is because you want to decrease the pressure difference between the outlet of your turbine housing and atmospheric pressure

    back to the noob's, if you can get 3 inch then go for it, not only is it not going to hurt if you have a small system, but if you go large in the future, then it's future proof :zlove:

    That's not a great argument. Most other turbo cars only have single exhausts...even though I agree that after the turbos it's better. Though a negative is less ground clearance.
