Too true Jono, my mistake, She'll be ripping up Tassie first weekend of March so keep that weekend free Symmons Plains.
Ahahaha, that's the setup I'm looking at Caz Harrop 8 body yeah? Would be nice to drop in one of the new super special Harrop blowers that have just landed in the country, or maybe even the older 122, but there's really nothing like the sound of an extremely grumpy V8 with huge cam and sky high compression and forgies for us old timers eh? Floor and a small part of the firewall needed a slight massage, but that was about it. The most work was in making the new pan. The guy that did it will need mucho compensation to do another one Here's a tip but, use a donor car like this if you want to keep your nice zed looking err, nice while you work out all the tolerances etc
That's why I'm using a engine that will fit without a plasma cutter The sum looks simple, must be one of those things that just looks easy
Its not Harrop Brad, Pete(Textralia) made the trumpets in his cnc machine because he didnt like the spun ones and the centre bit was also made locally and polished by my polisher. Before they can fit the 8 tb injection there are 2 custom carbon fibre 'things' that the are waiting on. confused: yep Im just learning the V8 thing lol) The engine used to have a blower on it, its out of the 8sec CAPA Drag ute. They used an American sump originally but where it sat was too low and she got ripped open over some ripple strips. ouch.(god bless metal putty ) Custom one now with what I see as a 'bash plate' fitted. The sound is awesome Brad, loud and raw. I think it suits the look of the Zed beautifully. Such a shame there is no DA round in WA this year.. Yes I'm biased, but she is a wicked lump of car :zlove: :zlove: :zlove
LOL, oh yes, the sound of a hot V8 is always a crowd pleaser This is the manifold I was talking about Caz, she's a work of art and if I can squeeze 2 turbos down the side then it's much more easier to get a similar look to the VG30DETT too But that would be at a very much later date.
I posted about a V8 in a Z32 that happened to be turbocharged, but mainly that it goes in (along with the 6 speed) and fits very nicely. All you guys that seem to want to waste your time arguing about twins and singles can piss off and start up your own thread somewhere else. What you are talking about has nothing to do with the original thread and I'm quite happy for mods to trim the fat.
any chance of getting a photo from underneath the car looking at the firewall and gearbox to see just how much has been cut/removed....or a shot with engine out showing the same thing,if the motor needs to come out agin of course...lol cool project, will be awesome to see it on te roads.....
No cutting of the firewall or trans tunnel Ross, just some minor massaging and that's it. Amazing I know but true. The oil pan was another story altogether but
Bonnet Very nice work what type of bonnet are you going to end up with, A Wilkinshaw hood would look the part.
nice work brad........just want to ask how much is the whole engine conversion etc approx. gonna cost you.....im keeping my options open but these threads keep changing my mind..... 1.V8 sounds great and easier to attain higher end power 2. But the cost are not viable and you can pour that into a vgdett and make it a monster aswell.... 0 the confusion of not knowing everything
i think youve missed the point here ITS A V8 DUB from what ive read in hybridz forums single turbs is alot easier to setup, however since the ls1/ls2 is actually narrower than a vg30dett there is the possibility of using larger turbos. other than that im ****ing impressed with your ride already let alone with a v8, cant wait to see the end results
hey dub, how come the turbo is on the drivers side.. wouldnt there have been more clearance on the passenger side for a large dump and waste gate? im sure theres a reason for it.. i just cant work it out from the pics..
hard to beleive! but very cool.... what sort of power we looking at with that motor turbo combination? roughly?
