Wow, what a weekend! Absolutely on par with Zedfest. Great to catch up with some friendly faces plus meet some new people. We had an awesome collection of Zeds and the people were just as awesome. Saturday was the arrival day (although some came up on the friday). We unpacked and had a bit of a chin-wag with everybody and a good 'ol purve on everyone elses Zeds. Then we went off for a trip out to the Glengallan Homestead while taking the "Old Freestone Road" detour on our way which was a nice scenic route. The lovely ladies in the reception/dining hall were very friendly and they made us coffee, tea & Scones! - they also make a mean Spider drink! The Homestead was a real trip back through time and was very facinating seeing one of the first "flushable" toilets in the bathroom. We used the garden there as a great photo shoot opportunity and looks great with the homestead in the background. Saturday night was HUGE!!!!. We went to the Roses chinese restaurant for tea which was very yummy, and everyone seemed pretty keen to put everything on my tab for the night. Later on back at the motel there was a lot of "room hopping" from everyone just drinking and floating around the place to mingle and have a great catch up and drink with everyone. So much to the point that it went on into the VERY wee hours of the morning and getting in a teeney-weeney bit of trouble from the motel management due to noise. We had a sound off competition between HaylZ and Reek with their alarm sounds, we had Black Baz looking very sharp in the "party mullet" (along with nearly everyone else too ) and we even had MagicMike go for a midnight 'Run' with a local WRX that spotted us and Mikey flogged it! (good work M&M, fastest car in Warwick my ass! lol). Sunday we went for a cruiZe out to Killarney to see the Queen Mary Falls up in the mountains where the other brizzy members met up with us and we had a HELL of a convoy out there, it looked fantastic! Many funny moments were when a few members were having "spew" breaks from the big night before (although some may say it was the bad chinese we had for tea ) Then the serious stuff happened when we arrived back at the motel, when the boys started working on HaylZ car to fix a water leak at the back of her engine which happend on the trip up from Sydney. 90TTZ, K-Zed, Andymac, CBZX and Pexzed were getting there hands dirty on a big tech afternoon and fixed her up so HaylZ & Timmy can make it back to Sydney. Monday we packed up and went to Queens park for our show 'n' shine where we had a few awards given out. CBZX won most original Zed, Pexzed won Nice I.C.E., MagicMike won Awesome Interior, Kaos Z won Best Dressed Zed, 90TTZ won Best Engine Bay and both 90TTZ & HaylZ won the Peoples Choice Award with a tie - but HaylZ got the trophy. Well, that was a bit long but it was a really excellent weekend. I thank Karl & family Hugely for the time, money and effort from his organizing the weekend. I had a ball. BRING ON COWRA!!!! :zlove: I'm quite certain there are some pretty dammed funny photos on some people's cameras so HURRY UP AND POST 'EM!!!! Cheers, Benny :zlove:
saturday was good i went out there for saturday only, cause i still don't have a zed yet. and we had a good time. the only problem was that dads 750cc bike had some trouble keeping up with the zeds. casue we had to slow right down for the corners. but it was fun, and wish i could of stayed for all of it.
SuperDuperMegaMeet Karl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: Great write-up Benny You are ONE funny bugger, as pics will demonstrate Warwick was a blast from start to finish and an absolutely TOP location for us to enjoy all the Zed fun and games. Incredible back country roads, a tidy town with great amenities.... we've even booked a whole brand new Motel for Easter 2009. More about that later. Apart from having Karl, Stretch and Shazza come all the way from Townsville it was great having Caz, AndyMac, Haylz and Tim from NSW. I trust Haylz and Andy have a better trip home than the one up. That bastard turbo hose and partial plenum bypass was a bitch but thanks to CBZX's toolkit and the bottom-end crew, Karl & Andy, it was a success. Thanks again to Karl for a SuperDuperMegaMeet.:zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:
We had around 17-22 Zeds depending on what day and what time of day you counted. What a Top..Top weekend, my gabber is totally flastered Naturally great to see the regulars, but equally good to meet some of the FNQ crew and Sydney gang. Excellent to see Karl, I met karl 18 months ago for about 20 minutes as he passed through where I was staying. Caz is such a darling (well we all know that ). Met Andymac and his new Z + HaylZ and Tim. Mustn't forget mr and mrs Stretch (Love those flames and fur interior ). Gave up on the Jenga after Fate knocked over 4 towers in a row. The weekend was all go-go-go, time was planned well, all went to schedule. Really well done to Karl and his family (In-law pit crew). Pretty much happened as Benny said, only he left out that part about the mullet wig (I'll let others elaborate and post pics). If you weren't there, hope all your ears were burning Here is my picture contribution, there are 52 pics. Benny C letting it all hang out This hairstyle catches on as Benny C started the trend In actual fact, this is Karl under Haylz's car. Also under there is Andymac, on top you have K-Zed (he likes it on top as you know), + CBZX, I was also assisting with the on-top work, when K-Zed had to stop to catch his breath Caitlyn playing with Tim Show'n Shine (PEXZED) CBZX Benny_C FATE Magic Mike 90TTZ Black Baz (Black Bess) AndyMac Stretch K-Zed Haylz Chrispy Group Shot FATE getting all hot and bothered (maybe trying out for the best dressed award), he lost Cruise out to Queen Mary Falls Caitlyn enjoying the G-Forces (road speed unstated for legal reasons) Tammy liked this could formation Caitly playing while the hikers went down to see the waterfall The waterfall, all the club members went for a piss upstream so we had something to photograph The lazy zedders that didn't want to walk the final leg (Can you recognise them?) On the launch pad for the trip home
nice pics pex very top shots and i can see black baz in the bushes as one of the lazy people that didn't walk over. very good shots, so sad i couldn't stay. bonezx
Top pics Greg Wasn't it ONLY BennyC who made the waterfall work? I woke up 0700 Sunday morning to find Benny still wandering around, beer in hand, wondering where everyone had gone What stamina
BENNY RADIO!!! FARRRRRKKK YEAHHHHHH....... PUT IT ON BENNY'S TAB! What an "AWESOME" weekend .... Fantastic to see the Sydney Siders alongside the Qlders from every direction. YOU GUYS ARE TOPS! :zlove: It's always a pleasure when everyone gets together, it's as if we've known each other for many many years. I can honestly say that my friendship with all of you will continue long after I sell my car IF I EVER SELL IT! Some absolutely beautiful 300's that came together and made the weekend even more enjoyable. Still can't get over our Saturday night that lasted til at least 7am Sunday morning. The look on Karl's face as he walked into our room to see Benny cracking open yet another bottle. Onya BENNY As for the Jenga nenga.... It was more of a Nonga.... Everything I touched kept falling flat on it's face and leaving blocks galore. A couple of "quick" Runs through the long windy roads was just what the Dr Ordered .... My zed no longer has the heating concerns that she once had. Instead the faster and longer I drove the cooler she seemed to get. :zlove: Had an absolute blast on those roads coming back from the Falls. Andy and I decided to leave the group for a little "Playtime" .... we arrived back in town approximately 7 minutes before the rest of the group did. it was GREAT! The weekend was ALMOST FLAWLESS!.... My favorite compliment that I received all weekend was that my Exhaust sounded Like a Ferrari as it tore past the many Zeds (where it was safe of course) All good things have to come to an end. The end came in the form of a $700 Fine, 8 points and 6 months suspension when it was ALLEGED from a LIDAR from 527.7m away I was doing 146km in an 80 zone.... Either I've got the quickest Zed in history or.... The figures just didn't add up. Feeling sore and sorry I stuck under the speed limit the entire trip home. Until of course Mr Plod once again decided to pull me over. Defect notice for having no Number plate lights, rear left parker light or right High Beam. The thing that added insult to injury was the fact that the blasted Parker light came good only a few km's after the notice was provided. FATAL ATTRACTION! So many more good stories that came from the weekend and it will only continue to get better. HUGE THANKYOU TO KARL and his family...... and thanks Benny For "PUTTING IT ON BENNY'S TAB! . Thanks to EVERYONE for being such a GREAT bunch. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! and GET BENNY A BEER
i am simply gob-smacked ...!!!! .. simply the bestest zed weekend ever ... big karl and jo did a simply magnificent job .. absolutely brilliant ... fun, fun, fun ..plus ..!!!!
Are you SERIOUS??? No shit bro? did this really happen? So do you have any points left or are you buggered? Super sorry to hear this matey!!!
was that speed trap just at the bottom of the cunningham gap?? on our way home on sat we came across a group of cops sittin on the side of the road.. was a great weekend good to catch up with everyone and meet the syd guys i havent met before. bit of a spin out finding out after meetin 90TTZX that we went to school together in innisfail such a small world.. i have some pics i havent uploaded them yet ill do it tomorow and post them..
Bugger Sean, are you serious ???? Mate, with your luck it'd be a waste of time buying a lottery ticket. Hope it's not as bad as it sounds. Cheers, Peter
Fatal attraction ... ... an unbelievable speed reading given the prevailing conditions, light rain, twisty road and distance detected. All 3 others in convoy + PSA's agree this WAS NOT a fair or reliable detection.
I'm afraid so Benny We were in Convoy about 1/2 way down the decent from Cunninghams Gap. We were 1) K-Zed 2) PEXZED 3) FATE 4) Black Baz. Now apparently being a clever police man, to check the speed of four cars together, you measure the third car's speed and pull that one up. Which also bears to mention that perhaps Black Baz's NA beast accelerated from 75 kms to 140 odd in 2 seconds also. Luckily Rob and I were too close to the far sighted policeman for him to get a good focus on us. Look, in all honesty, it was an 80 zone, and we "may" have all been over that limit as we rounded the bend, however, there is absolutely no way in hell that that bend would support being driven around at that speed, considering the roads were wet from drizzle. Sean and I went back in my Zed to measure 527 metres from the policeman's position, that put the snapshot exactly as Sean was exposed coming around the bend. Literally impossible to do. I will be making myself available for the court appearance as will Black Baz should it be wanted by Sean
Warwick MegaMeet: Sunday, Part 1 Was great to cruise up with some fellow Zedaholics from Brisbane! The cruise up to Queen Mary Falls was awesome, the ride home was insane!!! Some pics: Started at Goodna Maccas (from black 300ZX on right) - RoryZ, Fleet, Mr G (me!), BarcLayoni and oldfart: I'm beating Fleet! Old-school Z Awesome carpark! Starting work on Haylz car before the cruise... Ready to go!!! :zlove: Mr Cool - "Yeah, you TT boys think you're so tough" Continued... here: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?p=551918#post551918
That sucks big time Sean Give you plenty of time to pain the front bar... I've allways believed that rain could affect the radar readings, looks like I was correct... Me and Mike had a pretty good run back except for all the Grey Nomads everywhere All in all, one of the best weekends ever, can't wait for Zedfest :zlove: JUST KICK IT OUT WITH YOUR FOOT!
Gee's. very sad to hear. Sounds like you guys did the right thing by documenting the "scene of the crime" and see how it goes in court. Good luck Fate!
Warwick MegaMeet: Sunday, Part 2 Well, we all finally made it up the mountain - hangovers and overheating worries included! Senile old people forget to turn light switches off, don't you know... Tell us what you REALLY think... Major intake of fluids required post-Saturday night! To prove we actually made it The 'Hang-over' Club Giant Purple People Eaters! Zed Community at work My favourite new grille of the tour Cool rear view mirror shot Back at base camp (sleepy central!) What an awesome day! :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: First big Z meet I've been to and loved the whole day! Fantastic idea, impressive turnout (particular kudos to Zedders from up north and down south) and great to see so many 300ZX's that had their unique stamp from their owners, yet shared the same proud heritage (man, I'm gettin' all teary-eyed here)! Can't wait until the next one!!!
