I think use are all being pretty harsh.
If you are able to be garenteed about the cars power then go for it! Potentally torque could be an issue but if you are shown results of the engine then go for it!!!!
It definatly would be different, not an approch I would take but that is why it is a unique move!
Good luck with the transplant if it goes ahead buddy!

you guys do realize that a sr20 with the sr20 tranny is about 200kg lighter...

your best bet would be to hop on hybridz.org mate, there is a guy currently doing a sr20 conversion into a z32 and i think hes just fabbed up some engine mounts,

    however as for hybrid z32s
bang for your buck id much rather shell out 12k and get a ls1 5.7l v8 engine put in there
they sell for as low as 4k with a 6 speed tremec, they arent that thirsty too with what would be a light zed and the 2 overdrive gears, (you can cruise at 1k-2krpm for 110km)
easily capable of a reliable 400hp with alot more torque than an sr20.

not only that they are lighter than the vg30dett by a about 250lb ive heard (around 110kg)

    flame on the ls1 love

    Its ok to be different

but that engine belongs in the car it was intended for! The vg30dett is a great engine, why anyone would want to do that swap is behond me, or any swap for that matter.

    lol silly silly boy
    thats a stock engine
exhaust mods and a tune you can push 250rwkw
    infact
guys have spend about $3500 on an ls1, gets them nuts cams, exhaust and a tune
oh not alot of power only the 300rwkw margin.

trust me you can rape these engines for power.

simple because its lighter (by about 100kg) gives u a 6 speed with 2 overdrive gears as 1-4 are close ratio. and can pull 250rwkw for the cost of an exhaust an tune. not to mention rebuilds are alot cheaper, its alot easier to work on the engine having more space.

lots of reasons its just the cost is in the relm of a vg30dett rebuild

Wat would you say to an RB engine tho??? Would it be better off then the SR??

its not aheck of alot lighter than the vg30 and heavier slightly than the sr20, its a possibility i guess bit more torque than an sr20 and definetely stronger. you could always chuck in a vh45de which is a nissan v8
puts out 225kw at the flywheel stock and it bolts up to the z32 transmission with an adapter plate thats around $500 shipped from the US, or u could have one made. you can get decent power out of bolt on mods too.
iirc there are a few guys with these engines in z32s in the us And in z31s putting about 200rwkw.

i reckon ur best bet now that i think about it is a vq30det
single turbo all aluminium 3 litre it would be a hell of a lot lighter than a vg30 alot light and its single turbo and the stock internals can handle 500hp.

not to mention these engines are relatively inexpensive as to the cost of placing one in a z32 im unsure.

best bet is to sign yourself up to hybridz.org and do a search you are bound to find people who have done all kinds of swaps into z32s before and are willing to help.

Waste of time and money, SR20s r to small for a zeds

if you want to be different put an RB26, But still,if you only want 400hp, you might aswell get your zed engine rebuilt with bigger turbos , you will save a heap of money compared to completly changing the engine. SR20s are great motors but remember they are only designed for a car the size of a S13 or similer cars that size.

when i got my exhaust done the first time around the guy there was all like "man you should swap to an sr20, i have seen it done before they go wayyyy harder"

    i just nodded and smiled..

Each cam only has 4 lobes, i.e each lobe pushes 2 valves. It works but it?s cheap and nasty!

If you want to be different and still have a three liter motor.

ummmmmmmm if your only looking for 400hp at the crank all you need to do is the usual bolt on's.

exhaust/dumps/fmic or smic/boost controller/chip with AFR tune and 16 psi..

all can be done for under $2000 if you have a high iq and know how to shop/bargain.

why do go through ALL that effortand waste all that cash when you can get nearly 400rwhp with pretty much basic bolton mods with a vg30dett

perfectdiversion 10 grand later shes good

400 hp out of an sr20 wont be as reliable as a vg30 putting out 400 hp. If u wanna be different put a 20b rotary in, its been done to a 350z

    thats not an ls1....

its a hsv special,a regular 5 ltr vs commodore motor tricked out with a stroker crank and big pistongs to give 5.7 ltrs...confusing huh!!!
so its not an ls1 engine, but a stroked 5 litre...
and the torque figure was spectacular...
ill keep my vg30dett though, minor mods for 187.9 rwkw or 250odd rwhp...hahaha...gotta love it...!!!!
