Bendigo & Central VIC crew - I'll be going to Melb the night before the GOR and meeting up with the pack at Todd Road servo.

Will be there, i just did a google search, could not find a service station on todd road. Just to confirm is the todd road you are refering to located in Port Melbourne?

Yeah mate if your coming from the east you take the Todd Rd exit and you continue straight, just don't follow the signs saying Hume... Follow the Todd rd signs. If from the north you take the West Gate exit and you'll see the servo on the left after a big loop around. If from the west on the west gate freeway... You need to exit the freeway as if fir the United petrol station, keep left, turn right onto Cook st, turn left at the round about, left at the next roundabout, continue straight and you'll see the station up ahead.

So a couple of the newer guys have asked ......

    where's Thunder Point

    It's in Torquay......

follow the Surf Coast Highway through Torquay until you hit Bell Street (big round-about)

    Take Bell St exit

Tee intersection at the end of Bell St, turn right onto the Esplanade

turn left at the next round-about......... look for a park
    ;)

google maps, try 1 Esplanade, Torquay, Victoria and you'll find us from there

Yes, the start meeting point for the Melb crew is the Service Station (formerly Shell but now some other brand that escapes my memory) at the base of the Westgate bridge. Given that there are two - one on each side of the freeway - we will be on the 'outbound' side that takes you up over the bridge and onto Geelong. I've pinpointed the exact location on the map below:

The Torquay meeting point is at Point Danger. It's highlighted in the map below:

for those that dont know it and are coming from the southeast through the tunnel, make sure you take the signs to the airport and then the todd rd exit, as the lanes chop and change a bit restricting movement.

Yeah you don't want to be in the wrong side of the barriers haha I've done that a few times. All you can do is do a lappy of the WG Bridge haha

    READ THIS

Keeping a very close eye on this at the moment......

    http://www.bom.gov.au/products/national_radar_sat.loop.shtml

We've had solid rain all day so far with half a dozen 5min breaks between the rain. Wind has held a steady ~20knts all day so far aswell.

Not that the rain is a concern at the moment BUT..... this is now day 3 we've had this weather and the leaf-litter on the roads has
built up considerably => slipper greasy roads will develop as traffic grinds the leaves down....

at the moment I'm 50/50 as to call it or not ......

the weather isn't about to change until Tuesday at this stage....

I'll make the final call by 10:00pm tonight...... please check for that decision
    ;)

Expressing my disappointment at the possibility of a cancellation. Some of us have had to take days off work for this day, which means lost money!
Do what you have to do in the interests of safety of course, but it would be a big shame for it to be cancelled at this point.

On a lighter note, the weather down Frankston way today has been pretty nice. Lots of rain before 8am, but barely anything since then. And the sun is very warm ;)

Don't like rain and crappy weather at all but considering we all know how to drive in the wet...why cancel it? Fair enough it will be slippery...but one with half a brain will drive to the conditions yeah!? Why do we have to go everywhere quickly? Its not a race...it's a cruise and a catch up for a yarn and laugh. I can't see how it could be dangerous if we take it easy and drive to the conditions.....which all comes down to the leader of the pack to set the pace and make sure that his/her pace doesn't mean that the person following needs to match that pace and out of their comfort zone/skills.

Your the boss though... But just consider people's efforts for this day.

I've experienced similar, wet in the morning but a fine afternoon.

Re: cancellation, same boat, I've taken the day off work so would love to cruise but if it's torrential out there, might as well go out tonight and get drunk instead.

My apologies, but I'm out due to an ongoing right knee problem that hasn't recovered. Good luck if it goes ahead!
