Its that time again .......

before we go any further....
A workplace accident a couple of years back has greatly effected my physical abilities, specifically driving BADZX, the hard suspension and the general car setup is hard on my injury....... Its actually that bad the car has only done ~1500K's over the last 2+ years, it spends most of its time collecting dust
I can manage about half an hour in the car with some degree of comfort but after that it becomes a painfull chore ..... 4~5 hours is absolute hell and will no-doubt require a few days off work yet again after the cruise, provided I can get a shot of pain relief from the Dr... that time can be made into weeks if the Dr wont help, which is why I haven't rushed into posting up the cruise.

At this stage I will meet you at Thunder Point and travel to Apollo Bay and from there leave the cruise for a gentle run home.
Sadly BADZX will have to be sold, I physically cant cope with this cars ride any more.

The start will be Todd Rd servo for the Melbourne crew with a 8.30am depart time ( suggest you get there by 8.00ish)



Bendigo crew to meet up at the BP servo on the Melbourne Geelong road as you did last year.... around 9.00ish should be fine.
Melb crew and Bendigo crew to fuel up at this point, this will see enough fuel for the entire run with more than enough to get back to this servo or indeed Melb if required.




Geelong crew, meet point is "Thunder Point" as in past years..... ago


Lunch..... Apollo Bay cafe's etc...




NB:
The weather will be the ONLY factor that may cause this run to be postphoned due soley to participants safety.
Rain is NOT a safety call except where it severly reduces road conditions.
Should a postphonment happen, the event will be rescheduled for early in the NewYear (Febuary/March/)



All cars are welcome.... non ZX's will travel at the back of the group.

I found this interesting... Why not just fit stick wheels and suspension back on? The ride is great with a stick set up. Then you can drive and enjoy the Z... If it has bucket seats then sell them and still some velour ones in which are so very comfy... Just thoughts

 

Can't believe I glossed over this. Very sorry to hear Kingy, perhaps KINGZ can lead the cruise if you decide to go home early.

I was disappointed that I'd have to come in the hairdresser car but if you're not leading the cruise I guess that won't matter

Also re: Feb/Mar cruise. Hope there is one, my zed will be back on the road Jan 2nd. Only another 2 months but the wait is killing me. If there's a 1 day permit to drive the cruise I'd certainly buy one. Unreg permit is not valid for social events unfortunately.

 

that would be like fitting a child seat to a f1 and then trying to use it to do the shopping

I've built the car up specifically to do track days and 1/4mile work, with the few occasions I've had it out for these tasks I've had a ball with BADZX, a simple removal of the suspension and a reset of many other components would be required, that takes the car back to being an un-amiable bullet so it would then be very hard to handle, do I then remove the 'go-fast' bits to tame her down ????
Sadly its logical to move her to someone that can utilise it for job it was built for...... I cant afford a car that does as many K's a year as the rego costs.

all good mate..... the good Dr has agreed to help me out so I'll be 'painless' for most of the run through to ApolloBay, from there I wont handle a run back to Geelong and then turn around and go home, smarter to run home from the Bay..


I had 2weeks off work last year after the GOR and 10days off the year prior, I cant do that again to my boss, just not fair for him and the company nor is it good for me and the family.... My boss spent a considerable amount of coin on me getting back to work, not every boss would buy you a new truck and then fit a seat that is comfy for a spinal injury

Its been a headache trying to figure out how to get around it all, I even considered taking the wife's ZX which is still on the cards, I can put a few hours in her car, it's dead stock in every regard and the shockers are way past the useby date.
I have also thought of going in the Statey, oddly enough I can spend endless hours behind the wheel of the statesman without a single pinch & the same pretty much applies to the Cruiser with its super flexy soft ride, but man the cruiser is a slug, we'd have to rename the run to the GOW......

Kingy it will never be the same without having BADZX up front & it will indeed be a sad day indeed when the time does come to sell it. Maybe KINGZ could take on the reigns or maybe even buy your zed off you. Hope your back gets better.
