Very cool. No idea why Nissan didn't put it there in the first place.

I think the factory position is where it is for heat dissipation created internally by the PTU. Relevant for S1's, maybe, I don't know, but I've heard of S2's being put next to the ECU without issue.

The cause of my recent ptu dramas were entirely heat related. I found that without a sufficient heat sink on the back of the ptu, the unit gets super hot and the transistors begin to fail.
If I were you I'd get a heat sink on it, or at least secure it where it is in contact with the footwell metal.

Why do S2's not come with heatsinks on them then while S2's do? I'm pretty confident your issue with the PTU lies elsewhere, that said I'll make sure to bolt it to the metal backing plate the ECU bolts to as that'll help a bit.
Always liked those gold emblems, got some photos?

Ptu wise. Don't the rb25's have them on the plastic coilpack cover? Being that they wouldn't create as much heat as first assumed?

I certainly would look at mounting yours on an alloy block under the foot board. Maximise any heat absorption possibly. Then just run with it. Soon will tell us all if its a go'er or not.

There sitting in the back of the car. they don't work very well like that. but they sure look nice :p plan to fit them and make some ducts when the bar comes off for painting. any how ive got no boost controller and the wastegates are connected straight to the drivers side boost pipe until i sort something out.

They do come with a heat sink from factory. It's the bracket that it mounts to the stock location. There is a reason why it's 4mm plate for a 'simple' bracket- thermal mass for heat dissipation.
When you fire it up next, check out how hot the back of the ptu gets. Id guess mine was up to 60 degrees in under a minute.

With his engine out and all the bay work he's got planned I'd guess it won't be running for another 6-8 years :p

converted car from manaul -> auto

installed everything and got it all ready to go then figured out I had lost my keys....

getting all the clutch tubing out was a nightmare I had to cut it out in bits but it eventually came out and now looks much cleaner.

current engine is looking very tired but I will still try to get into the 11's with stock turbo/dumps/test pipes/intercoolers + gas. [TIS]

Test fitted Mirror covers from Zshop

Got these from Z shop in Canada so I can shave the indicator in the fenders...

they are good quality, fit nice and snug. I can't see much work at all to get them just right, maybe a light sand on the edges.

Very cool! I was planning on getting these for a while before I picked up my Ganadors. I'm not sure who the original designer is, but they're very prevalent in Japan. Wish I could find some Ganador Super Mirrors with the indicators on them, I'm still keen to shave the side indicator.

Anti, check sims Great White build, or may even have been a thread I started about mirrors...cant seem to find it. He posted a link to some ganadors that were for sale on ebay, not sure if they had side indicators though....may still be for sale?

These fit nicely and retain the ability to fold the mirrors in. I like this feature and hence the reason why I went for the cover. I also had aftermarket M3 style mirrors on the car when I bought it and to get that sleek look, mirror space was compromised which I found difficult to look through. Sim maybe able to advise how the Ganadors are in respect to visibility? Worth checking though.

Check my signature, I've already got regular ganadors haha. Just the ones with indicators I'd like. i wouldn't use cheap eBay fakes.

Nah these were genuine's.....just wasn't too sure if they had an indicator in them or not. I would have prob snapped them up if they did. So ignore.

Do they even make ganadors with indicators? Genuine that is?

Yes they do make genuine ganador mirrors with indicators in them. Super expensive though.
