aparently this is my week for stupid questions... 1- does cruise control even work on a manual car? 2- suppose i dont want it, is it just a matter of taking out the shit in the engine bay?? yes i know there is a computer to remove when i can be bothered 3- is there a practicle point to having it on a manual car?? cheers guys, sure ill find something else stupidish to ask later -Awe
My oldman has a '08 navara 6sp man. and the cruise control on it is brilliant. Better than the CC on the oldgirls '05 auto lancer thats for sure! Couldn't comment on z32 CC though, because mine doesn't work and i'm far to lazy to do anything about it!
I have cruise control... in my manual zed..... and I wouldnt be without it. On long interstate drives or even just freeway driving, the cruise control is a god send..
I fitted factory criuse control (108 - 148k/h mod) to my manual Z many years ago. Works perfectly and was a godsend on a 6000km driving holiday a few years ago from Bris to Tassie and back. Euro spec TT manuals came with cruise (and diff & transmission coolers!) Also have cruise in my Forester and in a MazdaMX6 I had many years ago, both are manuals.
The factory cruise computer only allows a range of around 40 - 50 odd up to 105kph, which is a pain in the ass. In the tech section is a guide on how to modify the computer to allow up to 148kph. It's a pretty easy job, just soldering a resister or two from memory, it's been a while since I did it. Ben
hmmm maybe mine isnt working cos my speedo isnt working properly... mightleave it in place for now then...
If both your speedo and cruise control aren't working properly then I would be looking first at the speed sensor at the gearbox. I have a manual Zed with cruise control - luvverly Quite a lot of Zeds have manual conversions done, and most auto Zeds have Cruise. This leads to a lot of manuals with cruise control. If you have a manual conversion, ensure the "cancel cruise" switch has been installed on your clutch pedal. Mine wasn't. It's an easy job and well described somewhere in the Tech Section. If the kill switch is not there and you have cruise engaged, pressing the clutch will send your revs straight up to the rev limiter.
i have cruise with manual. works as well as my BA falcon cruise being 15yrs older. get it working. its good. even on 80km/h suburban highways it will save your license
yeh i had cruise control on my zed... its a funny experience if you forget its on and try and change gears ... ehheheheh..
if you want it..and cant be bothered getting parts to do an OEM install look into a company called autron. all the OEM cruise controls i do are from them.
i love my cruise control. have had it installed on almost every vehicle i have owned, manual and auto. Not only does it save fuel on long trips, i have a dodgy knee and it saves stress on that too from holding my ankle in the same position for ages! i'm assuming my cruise control has already been modded as mine works at over 105km/h... but what a stupid limitation! although i suppose if your state has 100km/h speed limits its not such a big deal.
I have a manual zed which came factory with cruise control and I can set it to sit on 120... aherm I mean 110, although it is an ausspec which may be different to jap spec cruise units?
I ended up fitting an aftermarket cruise unit (AP50 I think). Cruise is invaluable on long straight country runs. Save a swag of fuel too.
