before...... these rims were +35 & as you can see, they hung well outside the guard....

    same rims after the cut.....

this set is +38........ PRE LATHE

these rims are now fresh off of the lathe, probably got a pic of the finished product on the phone tho if that helps...... I havent fitted up any tires as yet but have a pair of 295's to go on em
    :D

I've cut probably 8 pairs of rear rims so far, the finest cut took the meat immeadiatly around the wheelstud hole down to 0.5mm, some would say a tad too close for comfort but I've not had an issue to date.

The rims on the car currently, had 12mm removed but I could have taken a further 1mm if needed ( still about 1.5mm around the wheelstud hole left).

The other sets I've done has been for other jap imports, basically guys altering their offsets in a minor way to allow better clearance on bigger rubber, 5mm may not sound like much but it makes a huge differance clearance wise.......

The only "odd" one was a small cut (~2mm) which was an attempt to get the wheel to spin straight.... very slight "buckle" effect was visiable yet there were no marks in the rims from an impact (new rims straight out of the box ) ....... worked a treat .... only thing I can come up with on that one was a manafacturing fault ( which explains why they were cheap at the time )

What you run again? 10 or 10.5 rear? I'm getting 9.5 rear with 275's if I need more could prob go 285 on a 9.5" rim at max ya?

Thanks for that Kingy, i was hoping you might have had some pics of the hub/wms.
Im only going to be shaving 5mm of so it still stays safe, then ill have 19x10" +35 so it will still be a tight fit but will look heaps good:D with about 1.5 degree of camber

Yer you could go 285 depends on your offset and how much room you got to play with...rolled guards??
Safe to stick to a 275/30 and then if you got the room next time you buy tire go to a 285/30:)

    AndyMac Better than you

maximum width for a road tyre on a 9.5" rim is 295, and thats with a 30 profile. 285 is fine.

nah i mean you buy a set of rims with GOOD offset, and when they DONT fit you take the car to the panel shop and get them to make the arches fit around the rims eg +22!

Like I said.... I have got some post lathe pics on the mobile ..... could take some with the camera and email em through to you if you wish..... pm time ??

As for taking off 5mm....... How much "could" you take ???
Most of the rims I've done have had atleast 10mm of meat on the WMS for the taking.....
Just remember to allow for the other side intrusions..... HICAS arm etc ;)

must have been one massive fight getting the tire to stretch that far

Personaly.... I'd be shitscared of the tire rolling off of the rim on a hard cornering manuver.
    :(
