    hey all.

just wondering who owns / runs with one?

i have had mine a couple months and never installed it. im wondering does it go over the existing b pillar like the normal generic gauge holders that screw into it? so it just screws in via the one screw hole?

i'll post pics, but if i mount it, over the b pillar now, it sits weird, sags and hangs. and no instructions, nor have i seen it done..

or does the b pillar unclip and this one gets stuck in its position?
would love to see some photos of this installed in your 300.

    thanks in advance.

    kindest regards,
    rod.

not many, its (IN YA FACE COPPER) illegal
Most of us run a 2 gauge pod which is legal because the gauges sit behind the steering wheel,on a triple, the third gauge is above the wheel, canary time ,but enough of the education ;)

If its a complete pillar ,unclip the old one and clip this in
If its a cover one, unclip the old pillar, position it,drill 4-6 holes, place the black plugs in and refit pillar after wiring all the gauges and running the wires behind the pillar

    thanks kathy..
yeah i know it's illegal, many things on my car are, but im happy to cop the canary.
im asking for one with this ride height but been lucky so far. thanks for the update though

its the complete pillar, heres a couple pics :

but not sure how it goes on. like it can sit over the top of the original pillar, but sags on the side, a big gap.. guess i need to take the pillar off and have a look.

then do what you said and block the inlet runners down the door and feed the cables through that, although where do they go? to the guard?

its a clip on ,so unclip your old one and fix it on
Wires run down the pillar, youll see a drain hose there, clip them up to that and then down the corner of the dash and underneath to where you want them to go
You will also need to dremmel a hole in the stock pillar to run the wires behind it
When you run the wires down the corner of the dash,if fitting a temp gauge you will want to run one into the engine bay via the cable release grommet

If going to an oil gauge sender,go across under the dash and run it out where all the ecu wires are (passenger side) and then to the oil sender, sounds complicated, but it isnt, just fiddly

Si is out on the t/t fitting a 2 guage pod as we speak lol, which is why its fresh on my mind, ive been watching him do it

ahh ok. although this comes with no clips. i'll suss it out. thanks heaps.

ahhh ok. thats what si was saying ! coming back to me now

wait dremmel a hole where? doesnt this pillar replace the old one? or are you saying this goes over it? im confused.. if this one replaces it there should be no need to dremmel.

yeah fitting a temp gauge, so that goes out via the cable release grommet? wheres that located? like under the dash to the right / is this the cable to release the bonnet?

ahh ok. i havent seen where the ECU cables run out of? is it just above the ecu? or more toward the centre console? running oil pressure and temp. so basically take them through the same spots?

ahhh ahahaha. i'll pay him to do mine :p
what about boost? where would that go? i dont need it yet, and not installing but handy for when i do.

Theres also an area where an ecu would go out on a lhd,you can use that if running boost and temp wires out from the drivers side, boost needs to be drivers side, theres not really enough room around the grommet for 2 wires without the possibility of crushing them imo

Look in the footwell under the wooden board on the passenger side and youll see the ecu rubber, you can feed the oil and temp through there and under the splash shields and then into the engine bay
As far as your pillar pod,it looks like a screw on to me from the hole i see at the top,but i may be wrong

Hes now done 3,i think youll have 2 hopes to get him to do another,i hear alot of swearing coming from the garage area :D:D

    thanks heaps !!

will do that. just feed all my cables through there.
and run the temp gauge via the ecu hole under the dash if i can find one, or use the bonnet release cable or something, cant interfere with other wires then. im guessing the wire must get hot..

yeh i'll suss it out and post the results as a tech guide for all those that want to get defected with caz's sezy pillar haha.

    thanks again kathy. muchly appreciated.

the wires dont get hot,but you can earth them out if not careful, also boost is not a wire ,its a vac hose which is larger diameter :),im not sure if he has run a new hose,or used the stock
Knowing him,it will be a new one ,you know what he is like, everything has to be new :bash:

pretty sure everything ive told you is correct, its getting late lol,but im a girl, what would i know about zeds (ive only helped build 3 ) :zlove::zlove:

I know the dual gauge is ok, is the tripple illegal cause of the one closest to you is like you said right in your face in comparison?

  12. mr zed x

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

yeah, there are no gauges allowed infront of the steering wheel.
they must be behind it. but to be honest, that would be the least of my troubles.

Sure is,anything above the steering wheel height is deemed unroadworthy as its in the head injury zone (im not sure how many have ever been killed by being hit with a boost gauge lol)

I know most of our cars have illegal things, but this is one the copper doesnt even need to go looking for ,for anyone fitting it,its a chace you take i guess

Actually ,this pillar pod could start your troubles lol,p platers are sitting ducks

  14. mr zed x

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

agree with kathy. do it at your own peril.

but i want to fit it..
P platers are sitting ducks and its shit. but i dont go flaunting my car or being a dick so i havent had trouble yet. even being this low / loud with new exhaust etc.

anyways. i'll post pics when i do it.

ye im not running gauges like that til im 21. waaaay to obvious. just bait i recon.

"is your car modified at all?"

"no its not officer its completely stock"

"oh so your running all these gauges on a stock car??....... open the bonnet"

    "FML!"

    and another scenario would be

    "is your car a turbo?"

    "no officer"

"so your non turbo car hs a boost gauge??"

    ".......FML!"

    just my thoughts

    mr zed x chassis scrubbin..

    hahaha.

" is your car modified at all? " well your leaning over to see in with this ride height and im running 19's. im gone no matter what.

"is your car turbo?" no. "so your non turbo car has a boost guage ?"

yep. connected to the rev metre. i have never seen a SC's 300zx. im sure they havent either.

so i couldnt care less to be honest.

hahahaha ide love to see how that would fly:p

i get enough cop attention in my car now being NA that after i do turbo swap im jacking up ride height and running stock rims:p stock stock stock!!

    yellow300zx Pimpin Ain't Easy

lol, its funny actually I have never got any attention from the cops apart from my old NA where I had big crappy mufflers (were not even loud) on them and even then it was not the cops till everyone in the neighbour hood complained, after that got sent to a shop to get noise tested, failed so installed varex straight through mufflers (even louder) lol, will teach people to complain :bash:

It's a common misconception that the "P" stands for "Probationary"; it actually stands for "Persecuted" :)

My first car was a 5 ltr V8 Holden ute - automatic fail on the power to weight ratio. It was easy to fix though: I just went to a wrecker and bought some 4.2ltr badges and put them on.

In my first 5 months of driving I was pulled over 5 times, and never got done for the p/w issue. In fact, I never got done for anything... they just wanted to let me know they were around.

After the last episode, I just dumped the P plates completely and wasn't pulled over again for the duration of my P's - with one exception; I'd just got back from an 8 month trip through Europe (literally the evening b4 I was pulled over) and the first thing the copper said was "Ah; at last. I've been trying to catch up with you for months".

Turned out my step dad had been "reliving his youth" in my car whilst I was away - and had managed to get himself noticed, but not caught. :bash:

Luckily I had my passport with me so I was able to show the copper that I'd been overseas. He was really good about it, to his credit, and didn't do me for not having the P's on.

Still, a triple pod might be asking for trouble...
