Hi Guys, this might be a hard one. On a really hot day, after the car has warmed up to operating temps, you will hear a rattle coming from what sounds like underneath, while accelerating. This only happens on a hot day, and really only between 2-3thousand revs. It may be my imagination, but it feels under powered also. If anyone could give me an idea of whats wrong it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Try a bottle of the Nulon pro strength octane booster.
    Works for me.

How much boost are you running? Running 98 octane?

could be a loose exhaust hanger or a cat breaking up.,.

It shouldn't be the cat, i've had a new exhaust system for less than 12 months, it's a high flow stainless magnaflow cat. I'm using 98 octane fuel. The cars a NA not a turbo.

yer sounds like pinging buddy try backing the timing off a fraction n take it for a bit of a squirt. Btw how old are your spark plugs and are they gaped correctly??

I've got the same phenomenon happening on my NA. It's NOT pinging, as it's a regular sort of 'ticky' noise (no, it's not my lifters or VCT sprockets either).

I suspect I've got an exhaust leak somewhere, probably at the flange between the exhaust manifold and the heads. I guess the only way to verify my theory is to install a set of extractors.

i have seen it to, my falcon (other car) had a blocked Cat, so i floored it flat and it sat on 100k's for 30sec, then the cat exploded and shot sooooo much smoke and shit out the exhaust then took off like it was running 12psi lol

    off topic i know...but worth a laugh
