well i have a 2.5 twin system that is very heavy. it is made out of stainless steel and has the fully sick bling look. I now have jason's old exhaust which is a straight race twin 3 inch with carbon fibre cannons this is extremely light comparitively, what im saying is be careful with what type of steel they use to develop it, as with my personal experience you must be careful.

    THREAD DIG! :D
I'll be upgrading my exhaust system shortly and I'm thinking about going down this path also, but I hear a lot of negatives regarding single exit exhausts, such as looks, droney/crackly sound, etc. I reckon a properly tucked up oval muffler that doesn't protrude too much and perhaps even a Kaminari style bar to suit would look alright, maybe even have the unused exhaust tip opening filled/glassed in.
Has anyone seen or heard any well setup ones in person? In theory it should sound pretty similar to a Skyline/RB26 right? That would be awesome! I'm thinking about jumping on a Magnaflow race series oval muffler while the Group Buy is on.
    Opinions greatly appreciated!! :zlove:

i ended up getting a dual system made up.

2.5 mandrel bent. 100cpsi race cats, custom x-pipe, resonators, quad tips. Quieter than the stock na with lukey mufflers was.

I was stoked with it. Until i heard psycodelics full kaminari system and that he was planning to sell it for what i paid for mine :(

havent yet come across a single system though so cant comment. But now realise you can set-up a dual system to sound however you want.

    Not the point

Depends what you want from your exhaust.

The most important part is the dump and front pipes. The bigger the pipe, the bigger the vacume hence better flowing - this leads to quicker spool up times.

The rest of the exhaust doesn't matter as much, so long as you minimise the restriction. keep in mind that the combusted 'air/ fuel' will have started to cool down by the time it reaches your cats!!!

twin 2.5 or single 4inch will flow about the same amount of air. So its up to you whether you want to save weight with a single and be different or keep twins like the majority of the crowd. Up to you what looks good :D

If you concentrate on the dump and front pipes, all the rest is mainly noise and resonance control..

    My 2c

    Hope it helps

I am tempted to ask why there is a vacuum in the exhaust, but I dont want to know the answer.

Ontopic, singles usually sound very nice, they just dont suit the look of the car imho.

Cool, good replies, I'm going to go with a single exit Magnaflow Race muffler so I'll be another guinea pig for the single exhaust, I'll get some sound clips done when it all goes ahead. :)
There still really isn't many decent, reasonably priced 4 bolt dumps out there unfortunately so it looks like I'll be using N-Power style dumps.
