Definintely, experienced it once - while it was just a slight tug to the right im never getting into those lanes unless i absolutely have to...

I found this out the hard way... literally... was doing 50-60 in the wet and moved into the inside lane to overtake, spun out across three lanes of traffic and hit a wall backwards... Luckily no-one was injured and the road was relatively quiet. Just be careful in the wet!!

    All good points

If your in a manual you have a little bit more control. Again with driving in the wet you should really know how to counter steer and they should show you this if you do a defensive driving cores. this will help you a lot during the wet. if i drive in the wet i have to look on either side of me coz i know my ass will be wanting some other cars paint :p another good point was pumping the throttle. this will help with learning the limits of your car. hope it all goes well for you.

dont take this the wrong way....

but people like you really get me worried for the well being of all of our pride and joy, the ZED!. So please please use common sence while driving and dont show off (we are have to much respect to be doing that, leave showing off to commodores) :) I know a few people who have had zeds and stacked them while showing off to mates. To the zed owner who is new/novice to these fantastic cars, it can be a handful when your ass comes out that tad too far :) Drive safe

At 175kw, you don't have too much to worry about :p

    Mostely already mentioned but...

First of all is comon sense:

Drive slower in bad conditions and keep your distance. It is a heavy and powerful car so it will take longer to pull up. As Kiz mentioned, don't brake during a corner otherwise it will understeer. Also, you barely need to touch the throttle to drive safely. No more than 1/4 in wet conditions. If you get wheel spin from taking off at the lights or whatever, just back off the throttle until it stops, since you are now in motion, its safe to ease on the throttle again. One other thing that helps me is to keep an eye on your boost guage, don't let it boost at all (don't go above 0). You'll find it will break traction as boost comes on even when driving at half throttle. If you accelerate lightly enough, it won't load up and boost at any point in the rev range.
If it does step out, backing off the throttle completely and over correcting will, in some cases, result in "tank slap" and then spin, (sudden flick in the opposite direction). You need to be able to feather the throttle gently to stablise the car during a slide until you get it in a straight line again, then back off once you've gained traction, pull over, take a breather and change your undies. :p

    Second:

Spend a day at your local driving course or skid pan on a wet, diesel covered track. You get a feel for how your car behaves in the slipperiest conditions and will learn how to control it with some practice. ;)

Another good thing to get into is...

    Drift practice!
Do it enough and you will really get to know the limits of your car, so if it does step out, you won't panic and you'll know what to do. Get out there and throw it around a bit, see what she's capable of.

Brake before the corner while the wheels are straight, let the car glide around 90% of the corner and accelerate slowly coming out. Just be careful in the Zed don't be a hero.

Then again if you crash it, it makes our Zeds worth more :p I'm kiddin!:D

I've found the best tip for driving safely is to drive for economy. Sounds boring but it's actually a good way to keep up involvement without going crazy on the road - and a lot of drivers will tell you that the skills learned aren't all that different from racing. Taking smooth lines and avoiding the brakes as much as possible means you're always looking ahead. Good for the wallet too of course.

Get good wet weather tyres. Some are crap in the rain even though they have plenty of tread, hard to believe but true. A wheel alignment is essential too.

Oh and invest in a proper LSD, if the car does not already have one. These things are just as important as your driving ability.

quite frankly don't drive fast in the rain, and never TRY to slide.
because if you slide around a corner in the wet, every decent driver on the road is going to go "what a douche"

and the one thing you don't want to be, is a douche.

    when it's dry go crazy.
and if you crash, be sure to give your wheels to ugame.

get some better tyres. n3000 are bout 170$ a corner. ZX users say they are ok for the cheaperish tyres. Or be a man and get re050's like me ;D Not that you need to pend 600$ a corner for a stockish 300zx. Awesome in the wet too!

You might say your tread is fine, but if you run firestone or some cheap asian second hand tyre, then no your tread is not fine. I can bang my car through all gears and not get any wheel spin or 'lose control' after 40km/h. But then again i have a special suspension setup (thanks to the Zshop).

It's all about tyres! ...and the right foot

There had to be a misprint on your dyno sheet if you can't even light up at least 1st and 2nd gear. Might be due to the weight of all the bling crap you've jammed in that car.

Dude, you need to play with your car and learn to anticipate what it will do in any given sitch.

Take it to a skidpan or carpark away from any sort of danger.
Have some fun, dounuts, figure8s, try and hold your doeys with counter steering in wider and wider circles....
Get it sideways and let go of everything, see what happens. Countersteer too much on purpose, see what happens. Hit the brakes etc. Then try and get it sideways and use what you have learned to straighten it out as smoothly and as joltless as possible.
Drive in circles getting faster and faster untill you feel its about to let go, taking notes in your head of whats happening. Hit the brakes, prod the accelerator, turn your steering wheel sharply. Do all of these things seperately, see what happens both in the wet and the dry.

People who's cars step out 'out of nowhere' clearly dont know their car and what it will do at any given moment. Know its limitations. It is harder in an auto, much harder, but not impossible. Drive it as much as you can.
Dont do silly things on the road, especially in the wet. Its only obvious that when you boot an auto, it will change down HARD and the rear will let go.

    Know your car.
