player is on. I would like it to retract when listening to the CD. Any clues on what I should be looking for in terms of the wiring set up? Its a Pioneer unit with the cd insert hole hidden behind a drop down face (if that is helpful).
Al you can do is make sure the 'PWR ANT' or similar wire is run to your antena. Maybe the 'REMOTE' wire is connected by mistake making the antena rise when you turn the car stereo on?
Thanks Rick. That gives me something to work with. I'll check it out when I pull the clock to see if it is an easy fix. Hopefully just a disconnected wire rather than dry solder joints.
depends on the cd player if it has the option or not I thought? Orange wire rings a bell for some reason but I could be wrong?
The wire is either orange or blue, I think it is blue and orange for amp remote, but may be wrong. Most decks have a sticker on them to say what colour wires do what.
Failing that go to the manufacturers web page , get the manual, it will have the wiring info in it. Cheers Patrick
all wrong.. you cant do anything about it unless you put on a manual switch.. all pioneers (except AVIC units) have the remote (amp) and pwr ant wire as the blue/white one..
Pioneer The blue/white wire is for the amp or auto antenna. Only head unit I've seen with a seperate amp and antenna wire was a JVC, and it used to only have the antenna up when radio was on. only my experience. Hope this helps, Andy
Some brands cut the power to the aerial control line when the CD is being used, some don't and the aerial stays up. My old Pioneer left the aerial up, the new JVC brings it down when I switch to CD. In fact the Z32 OEM unit left the aerial up when on CD. So if you have connected the right wire and it still does it and it really annoys you, then you could wire in an extra switch onto the dash and throw the switch when you want the aerial to come down. A few people have done that.
Most of the new radios have a 'remote' for amps and and 'antenna' for the ariels... All my JVC's have anyway GET A NEW RADIO!
YOU'RE WRONG! My Alpine has the wire (orange or blue). When NOT connected, the ariel stays up when car is on, when connected it only comes up when the tuner is selected :zlove:
My Alpine, Blaupunkt and Carrozziria (however you spell it) all had the antenna come down when the CD/mini disc was in use.
My original JDM unit had the aerial up whenever it was switched on(regardless of Radio or CD). I have had Clarion(Radio, CD, TV)and two different Double Din Touchscreen units since then, ALL of them with the aerial remaining up whilst the unit is powered up. It's unlikely that over a nine year period, all of the installers made the same error when fitting these units.
im talking about pioneer units - which is the unit in question most other company have a separate wire for power ant. and amp remote.. i know for a fact that pioneer units dont have a separate wire
