The ECU has been upgraded by HiTec Performance to suit a TT with a pod air filter, sports exhaust and boost jets raising the boos to 16PSI. The upgrade was done through TTZ Performance and cost me $990. http://www.ttzed.com/products/products_listing.cfm?cat=23&grouping=1&title=ECU & Electronics The seal HiTec seals were broken when the ECU was used in a desperate attempt to get a Zemulator working. The ECU was removed and replaced with a Haltech to give full programability. $300 including registered post within Australia.
i vouch for the hitec.....i got one and its great. theree are 3 * 300zx with over 300rwkw just on this forum that have hitec's. 300$ is a bargin...
I'm interested but in a completely noobish question, something like this is not as simple as Plug and Play correct? I'd need to find a Tuner somewhere in Sydney who has a HiTec interface to do the dyno tune? I'm planning to run larger turbos and larger injectors etc
The HiTec unit is plug and play but is written for a specific engine configuration. It is just a standard ECU that has been socketed and a newly written chip fitted. You could possibly have a chip written for your desired changes. As you plan to increase the amount of variables in your engine configuration you may be better of with a more programable engine management system where you can put the car on a dyno and adjust for optimum performance.
Just to help. This ECU is a standard Nissan Manual TT Ecu, with the main chip being written with variables used by hitec and soldered in place. Changes timing and fuel maps. If you are going to run larger injectors, then you will need to have a different chip burnt and put into the ecu socket. If you do that, then it is just a standard TT ecu with a burnt custom chip.
Confirmation of Suitability The ECU is for a 90-94 Z32 TT, manual. The chip was programmed to optimise for a motor with the inclusions of a pod air filter, a sports exhaust and increased boost. The chip was programmed by an Australian business with personal experience in 300zx cars. It is especially for Australian conditions and Australian fuels. Some imported chips are written to optimise for the fuels available in other countries any by people without specific 300ZX experience. As part of the upgrade process the ECU mainboard was socketed so a reprogrammed chip, to accommodate for bigger injectors or turbos, can easily be fitted. You should not need to pay a workshop to fit the ECU as the majority of ZX owners, with reasonable mechanical aptitude and a few tools, can do the job themselves whilst following instructions found online.
