hi guys, i know this might be a stupid question, but i am looking at buying a 300zx as my first car and i need one without a turbo, so is it possible to remove the turbo and run it without? im not that good with cars, but when i get hands on im better. so sorry for my lack of experience and knowledge but i need to start from somewhere. cheers.
did you know that the Z32 was also available as a non turbo from the factory? why bother converting a TT back to NA, you can just buy a NA.
nope, not worth it. A different diff ratio plus lower compression to account for 'boost' from the turbos, means a turboless TT is a REAL SLUG. Just buy a good condition NA, like mine! Shameless plug sorry.
ok thanks guys, its pretty hard finding a N/A zx without any major flaws though. and i know they made them without turbo but turbo ones are so much easier to find, and cheaper too!
Oh no... here we go again. Que lowzx and others. Nope, can be done but not worth it at all just get an na. Turbo models are cheaper cos they've either been flogged to death or because P platers cant drive TT's in most states.
look here: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=288114 other way around, it's harder to find a TT ZX without any flaws. where's simon when you need him, we need that not this shit again pic...
More likely to find a turbo with major flaws IMO, especially if cheaper than an NA! When you're looking for a 300zx don't look for 'GREAT CONDITION, LOW KM' look for 'GREAT CONDITION, HERE IS A LIST OF THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN FIXED'. Sorry about all the capital letters lol
ok then, well thanks. all i mean by good condition is it runs, NO bodywork damage (you never know how bad that truely is, im an engineer so i know bout structural integrity.) most problems with it i am able to fix.
but most problems cost money. What is your budget for the zed? Also, your disposable income will determine whether or not you'll have enough money to fix a dodgy zed as opposed to one with more issues resolved.
Should also mention that even with a TT to NA conversion insurance companies still see it as a TT. Why do you need an NA if your an engineer? just buy an NA and engineer some turbos for it secretly.
well, my budget is high, i get paid well, so money isnt a big issue, plus my dad is an aircraft engineer and has ALOT of experience with anything mechanical including cars. i just dont want something that will take decades to fix, i want to be able to drive it, and not have major issues. so the better condition is good and cheaper is good so i can use my money elsewhere.
ha ha lol, i was thinking about doing that actually, i worked out that i could do it (with a lil bit of work) but dont tell the cops
Buy two cars. Zed to play with and one to get around in. Works for me I haven't even driven my current Zed
Buy my zed NA and Low K's! Definately, Positively, Guarantee NO ISSUES!!!!!! Nothing needs fixing, replacing or modifying, simply drive and enjoy! And reasonably priced as well. And its a "RARE SLICKTOP" Stu
lol, well im gonna suss it all out. i really want a zx but needs to be manual. thats the thing, i mean i dont mind if i gotta change it around.
Lots of "rare" slick tops going around wouldn't you say? I wanted a manual too but decided it was better to buy the one in best condition instead. Auto is quicker to 160 anyway. oh ya and the J-specs are limited to 180 so where does that leave the manual? lol.
yeah, but for work i need to drive vans that are manual. and i think it would just be so much better to have a manual car so its easier.
