wtf is a crank bearing.... went to see couple mechanics about my oil pressure issue, and they have come up with
    a) oil pump- then changed their minds cos if that was broken engine wouldnt run??
    b) crank bearings.... what is this, what does it do and how expensive is it to change...

i still have the 100k service to do to the car and dont want to do that till i resolve this oil pressure issue, as i dont want to waste 2k in various parts if im gonna need to swap engines at end of the day...

any one have any experience with this problem/fixings??

hey mate crank bearings usialy are changed when your engine is being rebuilt

Thet are half circle pices of metal that go between your crank and conrods and act as a bearing.

They cost bugger all like $150 for a set but you have to dissasemble the whole bottom end to replace them.

and would be pointless just doing the bearings without doing a rebuild.depending if it was ever rebuilt!
    IMO

Are you sure it is not a faulty oil pressure sender?

    Egg ....

I was thiking the same thing.

OPS is notorious for becoming blocked on our Z32's.

OPS i just checked with a master pressure gauge... Oil pressure sits at 30-40 psi fairly consistantly... so i know both my oil pressure gauges are wrong/broken...

dunno if this will make sense but
the car revs really easily off the scale.... in first i rev out at about 20km and in 2nd i rev out at about 60km... wtf...

think the belts/timing belt could be playing silly buggers with the crank or something...

this engine has not been rebuilt... isnt too bad of condition, but has not been treated nicely by previous owner

So your clutch is rooted too?

why would my clutch be rooted???
havent had any problems with it since it gone it.. this reving this that is random....

If you car is "revving out" like how you describe, either your clutch is slipping or your rear wheels are spinning. Accessory belts, timing belts, oil pumps and main (crank) bearings won't produce that problem.

clutch has done approx 360km since fitting

how can you tell if clutch is slipping as my rear wheels are definantly not going anywhere fast...
if its the ****ing clutch im gonna be pissed big time...

tho it does make sense, car has the power but doesnt transfer to the wheels....
would this mean a new clutch??

    IB ?????

Might just need a clutch pedal adjustment, how high is the pedal when the clutch engages?

will have a look, pretty sure its fairly high..

Try putting it in third gear while the car is stoped and then try your best to move, if the car stalls the clutch is fine. If not needs to be adjusted.
