hi, this is another hessitation/eratic idle/missfiring/dying thread but ive searched except i can't find anything thats a similiar problem. It's a 1990 aus spec manual. Symptoms: -Cannot idle for more than 10 seconds by itself; goes so eratic and just gets lower and lower and dies - Missfiring at idle and probably running but can't hear it. - Whilst cold and driving, can put your foot flat to the floor in 1st and will barely accelerate, have to cycle through all the gears not going over 2500rpm just to get to 60! - when it's running nice and warm and not idling and giving it sum it goes but feels like theres some form of slight hessitation almost like its not getting enough fuel. Conclusion: So far its not spark plugs or coilpacks, cleaned out IAA valve and is nice and clean though the valve is stuck in the casing and was unremoval able but seemed to be working, tried adjust idle, cleaned out throttle bodies and set tps to ~44. Anyhelp would be appreciated, hoping it could be the one thing causing all the problems....
2ND....start with your afm.....put your car in neutral and slowly accelerate while standing still...see if the rev needle goes past 2500rpm....if not, then there is something wrong with your afm or connection...either way, check the connections if that not it, like teck said, could be a very big vacuum leak somewhere...do a leak test
thanks guys, yer it revs fine in neutral just plays up when under load (moving), It's an NA so no boostleaks but could have a possibility of a major vaccumm leak i suppose, will test now
A leak is a leak, same damn thing with the same damn test used. The only different is the air direction of the leak. TT = both air goes in and air goes out. NA = air only goes in coz NA sucks . Are you gonna put a vacuum cleaner on it to test or are you going to effectivly boost the engine with a compressor?
i already have a leakdown tester such as the bottle end and an air compresser method shown in the tech section, did it and got a few leaks just fixing them now...
