I was driving my zed... i needed to do a uturn so i pulled over and begin to turn around when i accelerated the car just died... when i tried turning the car on again it wouldnt turnover... i was on a hill so i tried clutch starting it... that didnt work... i called one of my friends over he tried jump starting it... that didnt work... we thought it might have been the fuel pump cause earlier that day i ran out of petrol, the fuel pump was working fine... so now im stumped... i have no idea what it could be... its not that starter motor as i had it replaced no longer than 3 months ago, i had the ignition module change about 2 years ago... so i am clueless... if anyone has any ideas of what it could be please let me know... i want my zed back on the road asap! hope to read some replies Oleg
Stupid question..... but I gotta ask..... Did you check the fuse's :sorry: When you say you "tried turning the car on again it wouldnt turnover" do you have dash indicators lit up, can you hear the fuel pump 'clicking ' away ?
now i feel stupid... how could i look past the fuses lol... ill check them as soon as i get home... heres a stupid question... which fuse do i check? ... and im not sure what type of ptu it is ... but nissan did the job.
ok... fuses the easyest way to check them is... go down to supercheap auto/jaycar/autobarn/repco/etc. and buy yourself a test light ($10) and you earth out one clip side and with the pin side probe around the fuses (if u look on the back of the fuse there are 2 metal points.. touch them with your test light and if one side lights up and the other side doesnt then its a blown fuse... but then again u can pull one fuse out at a time and check (its free)
If all the fuses are ok, next thing to check can be that none of your electrical connectors have 'popped' out during your u-tune. particularly your CAS connector, with this connector popped out, it will give the exact symptoms you explained and car simply will not run because it's not firing the injectors. So, check ALL your connectors in the engine bay and make sure they're in nice and firm. Probably wouldn't hurt to check the terminals on them at the same time and give them a clean while you're there. ...... do you have access to Datascan to check for ECU error codes? if not, check the tech section for the paperclip method so you can do it yourself.
Also check or replace the starter relay. I didn't think you needed datascan to check for error codes???????????????????????? Why not check them at the ecu?
thanks for all the help as soon as i get home i will go to supacheap and buy me a tester and check all the fuses... hopefully its just that. if not i will go ahead checkin the ecu codes and electrical connectors thanks again
To test the ECU there is 2 ways of doing it if you do not have conzult or datascan... To test at the ecu here is the link for it: http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.417 Or if you wish to test at the conzult port which i find easier to use when i dont have datascan with me... http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.418
